Just uploading this frame here because I find the foreground characters’ manes really satisfying to look at.

Damn, good catch!
There are some confirmed fans, some that probably don’t like it but like the vague concept, and others who are basically only in it for a job. Honestly, those three groups are pretty easy to pick out which is which.
I know it can’t be completely true, because a number of them are confirmed fans. Now, not wanting to work on this comic? That I can unfortunately see.
Price’s artstyle started to drop in Siege of the Crystal Empire, it looked sketchy there, then again to me Brenda Hickey’s art also dropped in quality, especially at FF #25. I just hope the two of them get better (is it true no one at IDW wanted to work on MLP? That’s dumb, I heard no one on Equestria Daily, I read in some debate, wanted to work at IDW)…but I haven’t read the recent comics, I stopped after #37.
Oh God, you’re right. Ponyville has no idea what it’s in for when Delta Tau Chi (aka the Animal House) is in town.
Fair enough. It’s just that the Accord arc shows that Price can do great with Celestia and can draw scary Newfoals (yes, I’m calling them that, you can’t stop me), so I still like him.
This style was just so much more appealing, IMO.
Not really. Minimalism is a thing.
But what you claimed as a “negligible effect” is still objectively lowered quality. Plus I don’t get his whole “emoji face” thing. Garbowska does it too.
@The Smiling Pony
All Curnow wants to do is work on TMNT, but no one else at IDW wants to work on MLP I guess. Personally other than the whole 2014 controversy the stupidest stuff they did involved Jenn Blake being fired for putting her OC in a prominent role. Price and Cook do it constantly, and even people who didn’t get them put into the show do it. I know Blake has health issues but it really sucks her departure from IDW was not friendly.
That and the whole Pencils thing, among other stuff…I’d love Curnow’s job though.
I’m no comics defender, but on the subject of Price’s art, I can’t agree with you. I see no noticeable dip in quality, except that he doesn’t put in as much detail. And that is of negligible effect.
It likely scales with the amount of fucks his so-called editor Curnow gives about doing his job. Which at this point is likely negative and self-destructive.
It may disappoint you that he has sort of gotten less good as time goes on. A lot less detail in his new stuff.
I am sorely out of date with the comics, so no, I wasn’t implying anything. I just know that the bulk of the work I’ve seen from him is top tier and above the bar for licensed IPs.
I was just about to comment that Price was amazing; now he’s sort of grown complacent and doesn’t put in much effort. Just compare this to the Accord arc or his work on the GoH annual. Don’t know if that’s what you were implying too.
