Happy Hearts & Hooves day from the FoE crew!
I’m really not sure about the post-processing and color balance with this pic. Depth of field seems alright, values are technically ok and have a decent contrast, but something feels off.

It’s the little details that count
dear god
This Twilight is a sex slave in an Equestria where all mares were enslaved, dehorned, and had their wings plucked.
Well, it is Fall of Equestria…

Exactly. Clothes are simply fabric, but the mirror does not care eiher way. It does what it wants. Sure, somepony might feel such an explanation is insufficient, but again, if the mirror deposited Twilight Sparkle without her saddlebags and without her Fall Formal dress, what other explanation could satisfy?
And to bring it back around to the picture here, Twilight Sparkle would probably masturbate furiously if Sunset ever wrote to her about the pervy voice in her head. It’d look something like the above.
There is a distinct difference: Magic is a biological ability, while a gun is a technological device.
Now whether or not that means anything is up in the air, and will likely never be answered.
Most magics don’t make the trip from Equestria to the human world. They usually get translated save for a few cases. Modern armies won’t look quite so intimidating when their soldiers cross over with swords in their hands.
If I were to do the story though, I doubt there would even appear any Caribou, and definitely none on the other side of the mirror. They have enough to keep them occupied for a good long while. Sunset Shimmer dealing with her increasing corruption would be the focus.
I may need to hand this idea over to the groups on FimFiction. Unless somepony wants to post them there for me?
I’d say that it’s best to ignore EqG when working in the FoE setting. Nothing good can come from the temptation to throw modern human militaries at the Caribou.
I’d like to say I have trouble believing anypony except non_creepy when it comes to certain topics, but… Well, I’d also like to assume said topics is what made him more of a recluse than when we had initially encountered three or so years ago. I think that because while different in some ways, we seem cut from the same cloth somewhat, and I know what interacting with people in general can do to my own level of patience… In any case, I’ve rarely to never seen him on either DB or FF for a year or so, for a number of reasons. Oh, but know I don’t believe it’s your fault. I think it’s nopony’s fault. If I had to money to com three hundred plus images, I’ve no doubt my personality and how I normally react whenever I talk to people would cause some issues. <3<;
God, when you made those last few chapters, NCN must have been pissed….
have you read my story, Bruised Apples? When NCN was editing it, he allowed me to use the “Mac can move a house “ thing, and play it 100% straight… Then he never really questioned it… He accepts all the cartoon silliness, but looks at it as a reality in what he considers to be a serious setting. Pinkie Sense was in a story too, and it makes one wonder if the cartoonish antics of MLP apply to FoE, how do the caribou even take over to start with? But yeah… NCN is really serious about this stuff. Don’t believe me? Try taking to the guy about his setting some time. Might be eye opening.
You think so? Hm.
And total, 100% seriousness… that doesn’t even work out for FiM itself. It’s a cartoon setting first and foremost. Serious stories can work perfectly fine, but taking some liberties and making choices will be unavoidable lest you find yourself caught between, let’s say, Big Mac being capable of pulling a house and struggling to lift Applejack’s saddle bags or the infamous train-pulling ponies. As soon as you make a choice, it leaves you open to potential and potentially valid criticism. Different criticism than saying they want to punch your teeth in in real life, of course.
actually, that sounds like a perfectly wonderful idea. You should write it :D.
@thps48
Not to be more of a anal-retentive bitch than usual, but are you aware that NCN takes his setting 100% seriously? Like “this all makes perfect sense and nothing about it is to be questioned” kind of serious.
I’ve actually always considered Fall to not be serious. I suppose the reason discussions based on Fall seem to annoy me is because the setting is not one hundred percent as serious as some appear to take it.
However, less serious scenarios can still be talked of seriously within limits. One ridiculous example: In a few ways, Fall is comparable to Mario Galaxy. Countless aspects of that game pertaining to the laws of physics are fucked up beyond recognition, but still make some sense within context.
Well, now you’ve got me stumped. The one thing I remember was a thread in the Fimfiction group about a group of stallions infiltrating Starlight Glimmer’s village. The things I come up with off the top of my head all have the potential to be rather serious.
Like, say, Sunset Shimmer’s power of empathy, fuelled by Equestrian magic, slowly corrupts her thinking until she has a tiny anthro Sunset shoulder demon annoying her with perverted, kinky fantasies, pushes her into getting back together with Flash, then pushes her to turn Flash into a proper dominant since he is a total pushover. When she writes Twilight the princess tells her not to worry, mainly because Twilight wants to share once Flash and Sunset are ready. Could be affecting the other girls too, the more they draw on their Equestrian magic, and perhaps the rest of the school. Maybe they begin doing silly things like wearing fake wing sheaths without understanding the purpose.
Admittedly, “light-hearted” isn’t the right word here. Let’s call it “humorous”. Something can be dark and still be funny. Though again I wouldn’t know whether to approach the above idea seriously or not. Sunset arguing with her lewd little shoulder demon while the rest wonder what she’s going on about could probably be funny.

Could you give an example of what you mean?
Also, there is the matter of what ponies think is “good”. Let’s say it’s more light-hearted than your work. I would bet you money it would find harsh criticism and fast.

Pictures do have an easier time. Might have some to do with “You sick freak!!!” comments usually getting axed. Not just that, of course, but some. Whether that’s an improvement, I leave to the observer.
Well then the only solution to that is… “Do a good job”_. Seriously though, there is nothing one can’t do if they put in a bit of effort. For example, let look at this image. It is an FoE image, which should essentially give it 1 billion negative points to it’s name by that fact alone, and yet it was up in the popular section of the main page for a few days. Why is that? Well, because despite this cardinal sin, the image is “fine”. In fact, I would go as far as to say the image is “pretty good”. There is none of the FoE nastiness in it, save for the horn severing and wing binding that, in the opinions of some people, is completely unnecessary. One could easily debate against the artist’s assumptions below that this image, and the previous parts of what I’ll call the “Shining Breeding Series” has to have connection to FoE to be interesting and enjoyable, and that it would perhaps have been even more popular if it hadn’t.
One the same level with the writing, I was an FoE writer for 2 years, and I got a lot of flak for it at the very beginning, but when people saw that I was putting real effort into my stories, and making them to be more than just another rape themed clop fodder story (which it most certainly still fits that description if you read it). Over time I got increasing positive reviews from people who liked Fall, hated Fall, just clicked it not knowing what Fall was, and even people who had no interest in anything Fall outside of that story. All it took was a good idea, hard work, and maaaayyybbbeee the ability to respect the base material and the characters you use, which might be th problem no one cares about Fall that much nowadays.
I wouldn’t like to say FoE is dying, as I enjoy the setting myself, but it has come to a slow crawl both in the amount of content released, and creatively. Images have a bit of a benefit in this regard, as an image doesn’t really need to have anything connected to it to be enjoyable. Good drawing is good drawing, but a story has to be interesting to garner any real attention, and fairly speaking, a “standard” FoE story isn’t all that interesting, as there is little to invest in outside of what satisfaction a 1 minute jerking will give ya. But that is what you get when you have a setting with a predetermine outcome that never deviates form that norm, making it so that every story has nothing one can truly relate to or be attached to.
0 intrigue, 0 suspense, 0 mystery. They say that the journey is just as important as the destination, but when the journey IS the destination, then neither holds any value. Combine that with the fac that most people just don’t care about FoE anymore, and would rather just ignore it more than continue complaining about something that might have bee on life support since its inception… well it’s not surprising to see that readership is near non-existent anymore.
Meh. Looks to me like it’s a manner of if the writer has personal friends among possible critics versus being entirely new. If I were a new writer, I’d be worried about it.
