Is (2-1)^2 + (-1-2) supposed to be the distance formula between the two points on the left? Then the second pair should also be squared, and then you take the square root of all. You get
 
sqrt( (2-1)^2__(-1-2)2 ) = sqrt( 12 __ (-3)^2 ) = sqrt( 1 + 9) = sqrt(10).
 
Is the ratio below it supposed to be rise/run between the two points? Then it should be
 
(-1-2) / (2-1)
 
giving -3/1.
 
If it’s some other calculation, then never mind me.
