They were already defending Equestria (even got Everfree Castle set up) when they found out Sombra had taken out Princess Amore. Meaning they’d already stoned Discord and rejected the Crown.
We don’t know that. Sombra could of been fought first before they got the Elements.
She’s more on her way to becoming Nightmare Moon (since Discord has already been defeated)
Luna: Plan B sister?
Celestia: Plan B.
‘Luna tosses the net aside and brings out a vacuum cleaner’
okay, yeah, that makes a lot more sense.
that being said though, you’ve been carrying out this same argument on two separate images now with two separate people simultaneously, and neither of them are achieving anything other than pissing people off, so I’m going to have to ask you to put a lid on it.
Beg pardon, sorry if I was being unclear. I was trying to say that even if the events of the first arc of the comics was made non canon, that there is so much in the comics that isn’t contradicted.
could you repeat again that in a way that actually makes logical sense?
Cause I’m not sure how “so much material in the comics” means it being their first encounter doesn’t matter.
I’m not denying, I was only asking. And I even said it didn’t matter if it did say that was their first encounter since the wedding since there is so much material in the comics anyway.
I am only echoing what Hasbro states; that unless it is contradicted, it is all canon.
You haven’t paid attention to the comics in a while and you have the gall to make such a presumptuous statement? Why am I bother thinking about my replies to someone who only wants to argue against me for the sake of trying to deny the comics canonicity?
Face it. According to the powers that be, Celestia was in love with a alternative Sombra, OG Sombra came back and ran off with Radiant Heart after being redeemed, Rarity became overwhelmed by Nightmare, Sunset discovered alicornification by accident, Trixie once ruled a nation of Diamond Dogs, the Mane 6 were sorta pirates for a while and SO much more.
Lots of it’s dumb, lot’s of it’s awesome. The owners of the IP say that’s the story.
ONCE AGAIN
Not sure why you’re so dead-set on making the comics canon to the point of denying that episodes contradicting the comics don’t matter because they’re just inconsistent, considering you’ve been trying to say that the comics are only canon if not over-ruled by the show.
I dunno, I haven’t paid much of any attention to them in a while. A.K. Yearling was revealed to not only not be Twilight’s mom but also actually Daring Do herself, so all the comics where it was implied the character was fictional and not autobiographical are incorrect. Nothing really comes to mind regarding the ‘for want of a nail’ storyline. Its hard to work backwards for me like that; what stuff from the comics are you trying to argue hasn’t been jossed by the show?
Note that you’re probably going to just end up talking to yourself/whoever else jumps into this conversation, ‘cuz I’m not really invested enough in this to really argue about it.
Edited
They reference the wedding a lot, but does Twilight say that was the last encounter they had with a changeling? Or do they just remember it as the most notable appearance of them? Spike was barely a part of the first comic adventure, Shining and Cadance weren’t in it either, and the Changelings the six encountered wouldn’t make them think differently of changelings anyway. Only Twilight is there to de-canonise the first arc, since Spike was in Canterlot at the time.
Even if it that is true, it can be called a continuity error and doesn’t necessarily erase the arc from canon. Ad even if it DID, it doesn’t erase ALL the other stories too.
The show doesn’t take the comics into consideration, so it can take away comic stuff, but everything it doesn’t is still canon. I feel like I’m repeating myself here.
Also, any other inconsistencies? You made it sound like the majority of stuff in the comics is now non canon, so I want to see you back that up.
Pretty much everything they’ve done involving changelings as of the most recent episode immediately springs to mind, since Thorax is apparently the first changeling they’ve encountered since the wedding. Which kind of sucks since I loved how dark Chrysalis’ first arc got.
Firstly, it doesn’t matter how much the show can overthrow the comics canon, it doesn’t make everything else it makes less canon.
Second, I think you are vastly exaggerating on how much they have conflicted. Some examples would be the appearance of Moondancer. What else ya got?
On the one hand, yeah, I originally agreed with that, but at this point the show and comics have conflicted on so many things, there’s not much left besides some incidental bits like Tiberius.
I would agree, but I just failed to try and find the tweet that said the comic and movies are second only to the show in canon…..
Still, I re-found this to support my, ‘Comics are canon’, argument (I should really save these…)
@Meanlucario
Simply put, you’re wrong, read above.
Edited
To put it simple, the show and the comics are two different canons, and the EQG series are more of a sub-canon than canon, so there’s that.
Considering the main show writer worked on the Journal, and one of the episodes referenced one of the books, they should be higher canon than the comics.
The show doesn’t and will likely never acknowledge any events that happen in the comics, so for all intents and purposes, they may as well not be canon. HOWEVER, they are still canon in that it happened to the characters. The whole thing works of a canon grade, like Star Wars did (before Disney took the Expanded Universe away).
So, the show is A. It sets the precedent and it overrules any discrepancy or continuity errors caused by conflicting information form lower grades of canon.
Then we have Equestria Girls and the comics. They are B canon.
Then we get into C grade canon, the books and novels, like The Journal of the Two Sisters or ‘The Curious Case of Chraity’.
Lastly is the merchandise, D canon. This would be the descriptions on toy box’s and such.
According to Hasbro, all their official My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic franchise merchandise is canon.
Edited because: It looked untidy
The thing is that the comic aren’t canon with the show.
>Asks if it was confirmed
>Ignores canon material
Just because you don’t like something doesn’t make it non-canon.
I think Fluttershy had the idea and Celestia and Luna are trying it out.
Was the fact that she is nocturnal ever confirmed though? (I’m not counting the comics)
It fits her, since she is nocturnal.
