‘Artsy’ films rarely do well with kids, though I liked it because I was a rather unusual child. It’s bad enough that the longest segment is followed by the second longest and put in the middle, and the opening and closing segments are more conceptual.
 
2000 is more child friendly, with simple, concrete storylines (except the obligatory ‘abstract’ opening, which is mitigated by its brevity), and after a decade and half of babysitting relatives, I find it a better answer to ‘What is Uncle Rex’s favorite movie?’

I guess I have to agree. Fantasia is a masterpiece. I found it a bit boring as a kid on some parts.

I was talking about Fantasia 2000, released in IMAX on January 1st and general release on June 16th.
 
That year I was 12, so obviously my ranking of the three Canon films at the time was Dinosaur > New Groove > F2K. And like I said before, I have a much greater appreciation for Fantasia 2000 (and the original Fantasia, but that goes without saying) now than I did at the time.

I haven’t seen it since I was a ‘tween’, so I wouldn’t know if my tastes have changed or not.

It’s not that I don’t like it, it’s just that, while I liked it a lot as a tween, as an adult I have a much greater appreciation of a certain other Disney movie that came out that year. People who know me well know which one I’m talking about.
