From what I’ve heard, the “logic” is that whenever they use their favorite slurs, they can say any hateful and vitriolic things they want, because they’re defining the slurs. If someone argues against them, it doesn’t mean they’re wrong, only that the slur doesn’t apply in that scenario, and they’re free to keep repeating their hate.

If they say that “those people” are evil hypocrites, they’re right because they’re defining them as evil hypocrites.

If they say that “those people” are always wrong, they’re right because anyone who isn’t wrong wouldn’t be one of “them”.

If they say that “those people” are evil white cishets who don’t have the right to speak about (insert issue here), they’re right because they’re defining “them” as evil white cishets.

If they say that “those people” are only pretending to care because they’re control freaks who want attention, they’re right because anyone who genuinely cares isn’t one of “them”.

If they say that “those people” are overemotional and deserve to be hated and bullied for it, they’re in the right because anyone who isn’t too emotional isn’t one of “them”.

If they say that “those people” are pure evil and do nothing but ruin things just to be evil because they’re evil incarnate they’re right because…

Effectively, this means that they can spread as many hateful, dehumanizing stereotypes as they want, as often as they want, and they’ll always be right because they say so. Which rarely stands up to reality when you look at the things they’re actually raging at, or the actual people they attack. But their hate survives and thrives nonetheless, because every time they’re proven wrong they think of it as the exception that proves the rule.

No one likes SJWs, everyone outside of tumblr hates them. People are obviously going to ignore comments against SJWs when they don’t like them.
And you’re trying to bait? I couldn’t take your comments as satirical at all until you said so. Maybe I’m fucking stupid, but on a thread where a majority are hating on Whitley on something ridiculous as “punching 700 derps” considered as an actual threat, I thought you were being serious.
Background Pony #EA03
@Background Pony #39D5
…OK, yeah, I give up. I was hoping one of the “Whitley is evil” crowd would reply to my comments and object to how extreme they are, but apparently I have a talent for picking threads that are on the cusp of dying off. And then in another thread someone unironically compared SJW to animals without anyone calling him on it, so maybe my comments wouldn’t be regarded as extreme by that side after all.

(And if anyone doubts I was trying to be satiric, well, I did claim that my suggestion was a “modest proposal”; try Googling that phrase if it’s not familiar to you…)

@Prof.NightJack
I understood your point, that still doesn’t give a reason why people are actually taking it seriously.

@Background Pony #9AAA
Calling him waste of humanity, is harsh. Like I said, he’s not excused for his actions and words, but saying that inclusion of diversity is going to ruin the show is a stretch. He never advocated any real violence, and harassing him more just makes the fandom just as wrongful as he is. If you honestly think the fandom has done nothing wrong, why do you think he made those stupid comments? He made those comments in a pathetic way to fight back because he was recieving harassment. Both sides made the issue worse than needed.
Background Pony #EA03
@Background Pony #39D5
He’s a Social Justice Warrior, pretty much the definition of “waste of humanity”. He wants to ruin the show by turning RD and Fluttershy into flaming lesbians and inserting Celestia knows what other forced diversity, he blocks his critics rather than responding to them, and he advocates violence against people he disagrees with him. I’d say harassing him off of Twitter with insulting tweets is a modest proposal, really.

@Prof.NightJack
I was pointing out people’s problem on taking it seriously.

@Background Pony #9AAA
You are definitely one of the contributors to this problem by calling him “waste of humanity”. And “fair and reasonable” is a funny way of expressing your point especially after you’ve said that.
Background Pony #EA03
@Background Pony #39D5
Oh no, the fandom is completely reasonable and faultless in this debacle, except for those few deluded souls defending that waste of humanity known as Whitley. He has consistently and flagrantly misinterpreted what we’ve said, while we’ve been scrupulously fair and reasonable in interpreting his deluded ravings. Why can’t you see this?

I think the misunderstanding is the reason why I’m saying the threat is the problem.
“And I said this guy did wrong in handling the situation”
That is what I mean, he made the threat, if you take it seriously or not the fact that he made in the the middle of all this mess is what makes it a problem.
You can say not to take it seriously all you want, but even if it was some kind of joke it was the wrong thing to do with all this happening.

And I also pointed out how with some people you never know that they could be serious about somthing like that as how it can’t just be seen as something to not take seriously at all.

If it’s handled with the subtlety of Mina, the balanced character of Radiant Hope, and the moral of Cassie the Kelpie, I can only imagine how great it will be! But seriously he’s a pretty poor writer regardless of IP.

A threat is a threat is a threat. I don’t care how “silly” it is.
Background Pony #04A9
@Prof.NightJack
You keep saying it’s a threat, “punching 700 derps”, yeah sure, real threatening. Yes, it’s a terrible way to reply, but I doubt anyone actually took it seriously. They just have a bone to pick with him and found an easy way to insult him.

And I said this guy did wrong in handling the situation, he’s not excused in any way. The fandom itself however, isn’t doing any better. I don’t know how you think, I’m not you, but the way you write your point and how a lot of people are seeing it is as if this is entirely his fault. The fandom contributed to the problem and not pointing it out is no different than saying the fandom didn’t do anything wrong.

I apologize if I misunderstood your point.

The claim that this is an actual violent threat is just absurd and really undermines the credibility of any opposition to his ideas.

The really pointless part is that for all this drama over his opinion, it’s just that. He has no power to enact a gay relationship in the show, and in the comic he’d be likely limited to a background couple or new character at best. People are acting like he has the power to make their waifu a lesbian 5ever.

All the railing against him is pretty pointless given the above. I’d like to see him get the opportunity to write a gay couple in the comic, just to see whether it’s handled appropriately or not. Then the issue could finally be put to bed.

You really don’t get that making a threat is not going to make one look good in a topic?
If one is taking it seriously or not isn’t going to change that it’s not a good way to handle an issue once drama has started, it just added fuel to the fire.

And if you think I’m defending the fandom with then, you must really not get it.
I’m pointing out how it was a problem.
Now will you please stop trying to defend Whitley’s rather stupid way of responding.
Background Pony #04A9
@Prof.NightJack
So wait, did you seriously feel threatened yourself that a comic book writer was going to find you specifically and punch you in the face? That’s a laugh, did you decide to call the police on him?
Stop trying to defend the fandom on calling out something ridiculous as that. If I said I’m gonna punch ‘700 derps’, you honestly think I’m serious? Unless he’s a psychopathic genius, then no, especially not going to believe if he is one if he even posted that.

Oh I’m sorry, I didn’t know you can tell if anyone was just blowing hot air and there isn’t a chance they might be mentally unbalanced and follow though with a threat that make, sillyme, it’s like there are not people like that in the world.
Background Pony #04A9

>”punch 700 people”
‘Threats’ about punching that large number of people, is VERY threatening, isn’t it?
Unless there’s a news article somewhere about one guy who found and punched 500+ people just because they made fun of him over the internet, it’s quite obvious not to take those ‘threats’ seriously.
