Did Blueblood just zip around like Speedy Gonzales?

I wondered if he was the grandchild of one of Celestia’s children. Therefore technically royal, but Celestia’s position isn’t hereditary.

For some reason I kept hearing Blueblood’s lines in this comic in Tim Curry’s voice.

What Faust’s vision of the show was and what it is now are two different things. I think Faust didn’t really think the answer through and came up with something sounding vaguely plausible largely as a joke. Then Heart’s Warming Eve came and I feel that’s a stronger interpretation.

The way Faust tells it, he’s her great-great-great(about 51 greats, roughly speaking) nephew. Seemingly descended from their maternal first cousin, if I understood the quote right.
 
I guess he could also be descended from those guys, though, but that’d be via the unicorn royal line marrying into the Equestrian royal line. Maybe Blueblood is actually King of the Unicorns, but uses his prince status as his primary title because it’s more prestigious these days - because, you know, the Unicorn Kingdom doesn’t exist anymore.
 
Prince of Canterlot might tie into Flim and Flam’s line (I thought of it too); On the other hand, it might be because if he said “Prince of Equestria” that could be interpreted as including Shining Armor too.

In a later page he describes himself as a Prince of Canterlot (possibly tying into Flim and Flam’s Kingdom of Canterlot line).

Prince is actually his first name, not his nobility title

My take is that he’s the descendant of the unicorn royal family from the Hearth’s Warming Eve. Princess Platinum’s father adopted Celestia and Luna into his own family.
