“Mod” (short for “moderator”) refers to someone running a site. So on Tumblr and Picarto, the “mod” is the person(s) drawing/streaming/posting/etc. Mod ponies are basically ponifications/OCs of those people. So in essence, the guy running the blog decided to make a picture of his OC.

I take it that a “mod pony” is essentially a representative of yourself? I’ve seen that from Marsminer, and he used the same term… Is “mod” short for something? Why is that the term?
 
Anyway, at least you haven’t drawn yours being raped and then taken out for ice cream later, by the rapist.
