Just occurred to me how e26 would’ve been better. Starlight accompanies Twilight back to the Crystal War timeline, and watches Sunburst die under a wave of crystal slave terror troops. His last words are, “Starlight, I never got to show you what I’d become for y…” And meanwhile, that timeline’s Starlight Glimmer is only a hundred yards or so away, giving water to dying ponies on the battlefield, suffering herself from trench hoof and pneumonia, oblivious to the comfort she would’ve brought her dying friend if only she was a little bit closer and they both realized each other’s presence.
