Really wished this was the canon! Then it would explain how Glimmer is as good as Twilight if she’s the third pony in a trio of prodigies (Twilight, Sunset, Starlight)

This definitely makes a bit more sense if you think about it. Still though despite Starlight Glimmer’s rather lame backstory, I feel kinda sad for her in terms of deeper context.

Well, this wouldn’t have made Starlight’s backstory any good but it would have made one hell of a job making the world feel more connected… Dammit OP now I wish this is what would have happened.

Would’ve been cool though if they both ended up discussing Sunset and having the finale end on the promise that Twilight would reunite them or something. That would’ve made me hyped for S6.

It would’ve made even more sense, paralleling Moondancer and Twilight.
 
Only problem with this it would’ve had to have warranted quite a few extra lines of dialogue.
