Nope. The only guilty part is that it was a jpg picture. Unless derpi has set a limit of 1280 for jpg pictures.
 
Unless I was really stupid and put the source in “fetch image” instead by mistake 2 times despite selecting the pic 2 times for both uploads from my HDD.

Are you posting via URL? Tumblr always downscales images to a max width of 1280px, so that is the largest resolution Tumblr will have on their server.
