Yep, that’s right. And in a HUUUGE Hilarious in Hindsight coincidence, the mutant that died instead of Professor X (plot twist :P) was named…Changeling!
@Doomguy
I have a strong feeling they are permanent, and let me count the reasons…
If you look at last season (Season 4) I can’t recall a single CMC episode where they were focused on getting their cutie-marks. So they seem to of started doing away with that concept for the CMC sense then. (This is also what made me think they’d get their marks in Season 5.)
The episode, not only gave them their marks, but also shattered the status quo for the CMC. They reformed Diamond Tiara, and became friends with her, so now there’s no reason for her to bully them, or be their antagonist anymore, sense they got their marks now. (Ironically Diamond Tiara is what caused them to become interested in getting their marks, finding their special talent, and forming the CMC in the first place. So them helping her, and befriending her is nice closure.)
The episode also ends with their Cute-cenera party, and Tiara’s was the one where they all became friends.
Also, the CMC stated they no longer care about getting their marks, and now want to help ponies instead, which is likely going to be what the CMC are going to be about from now on in their episodes. (This was also foreshadowed in the “Appleoosa’s Most Wanted” episode.)
Also, those merch’ designs weren’t set in stone, and said toys were never shown to actually have said “cutie-marks” on their flanks. Only on their accessory.
As the Doctor would say: “You’ve created a fixed point in time–it cannot be changed!”
:D
Professor X.
they’re permanent dude. they can’t just un-do what they just did.
I have no desire whatsoever to get rid of their cutie marks…
@SuppliedRelic
…nor am I complaining that they got them. It was a beautiful episode perfect for the special occasion. I just have this gut feeling like they aren’t permanent because they: 1) Appeared all at the same time when they’re supposed to be personal, 2) Contradict the mentioned merchandise design (though admittedly it was certainly not meant to be definite), and 3) Do not seem to fit with the normal cutie mark design (see >>999537)
I’m with you in wondering why so many people are complaining about the CMC finally getting their cutie marks. It was not, however, necessary to bring up your distaste for Equestria Girls.
My, someone’s so salty, they aren’t even able to guess that things will turn out well (because FiM is so ridden in downer endings) on their own.
Why so many people are so eager to eliminate their cutie marks? is princess twilight all over again, in any case, whatever happens in the finale, it will be fixed at the end, we can thanks the crappy movie with the crayon skin freaks for that detail.
