So Spike’s here, does that count as the Mane 6 appearing?

What I liked:
Discord: Good graces is he so funny here. Like his wit and cynicism are just on full blast here and it’s great. He has his good side and that’s nice as well but it’s in his own unique fashion. And that student loan debt joke was great!
Spike: Man does Spike and Discord have some good chemistry. Like Spike gets to play ultimate straight man here and it’s wonderful. He can snark back at Discord but at the same time the world snarks back at him and it’s pretty great.
The B-plot: So hey there’s actually two plots running in this episode, that only happens once in a blue moon here. So the whole CMC stuff was a bit pointless but it was fun to see them try to figure out the whole secret admirer thing. And how it dove tailed into the A-plot was well executed.

What I didn’t like:
The A-plot: It’s the standard “Misunderstanding couple” affair. One hears something about the other, they misinterpret it, high-jinks ensue. It’s not very engaging and goes the general standard route of learning to need to talk to each other better, but really it’s mostly just a spring board for the D&D trio to interact with so I’m fine with that.
The Lettering: JUST USE ENGLISH FOR CELESTIA SAKE! Seriously who just draws a bowl of sugar and a bell and expects the fucking mail service to figure that out? Like it is the most backwards way of writing something out that it’s annoying in it’s own right. ARGH!

What was meh:
SugarMac: They were the bland bread that held together the interesting meats and comedic cheeses of the episode… I’m hungry I didn’t get to eat breakfast yet. Anyways they’re not bad but they don’t really stand out. Big Mac is still the weak man out of the D&D trio. He doesn’t have much agency and his lack of words and disconnect from the other two banter make him seem almost superfluous in his own episode, and then add on he has very little agency of his own so that at the end of the day he’s just there for the other characters moreso than for himself. Sugar Belle isn’t much more than the object with which the tension of the plot is built around and so doesn’t actually do much here.

So yeah a cute funny episode that was in general light on plot but was still a very enjoyable outing
