Pretty sure it’s already canon she lives with her aunt and her aunt’s friend. The show has no good reason to contradict that.

So Scootaloo’s domestic condition is locked in a stalemate, then. Either contradict canon or put the “dirty laundry” on display, so to speak. So neither is done, and the issue is ignored.

There is a debate whether even a straight developed pairing like Fluttercord would even likely to become canon. Topics even more controversial like homosexual pairing is another level of impossibility AND homosexual parenthood/adoption is EVEN more controversial. Were not talking about just getting banned from China or Russia but even some states in USA. Hasbro woudn’t allow that and cartoons were often banned for less. Like that infamous “Powerpuff Girls series finale” with Communist undertones about an evil Gnome.

The US wouldn’t do anything, that is quite simply a first amendment violation and there’s no two ways around that. That said, it would make several countries pull the cord, so Hasbro might be reluctant to unless they think it’s worth it for progressive points here in the States. As far as straight pairings go, I don’t think Fluttercord is happening because Hasbro/DHX has gone to great lengths to make them friends, we’ve already got Sugarmac anyways.

Would it surprise you to know that I am not advocating for Scootaloo’s aunt(s) to appear in the show? Just discussing the possibility.

As I said, that kind of thing is normally virtue signaling, so they won’t do it unless they think the virtue points they’ll receive in the States/Canada/Europe are enough to balance out the losses.

I’ve heard a lot of talk about what’s gonna happen to the fandom after the show ends, with some people saying the fandom is gonna die. After all, the fandom has been in decline for some time now.
 
But to be honest, I think the fandom will be fine. It’s not like the fandom is gonna magically disappear after the final episode. That’s not how fandoms work.
 
Mystery Science Theater 3000 didn’t have a new episode in 18 years before it was revived, and it still had a dedicated following. Firefly lasted all of 13 episodes, and it still has a dedicated following. There’ll still be plenty of fan works years after the show proper ends.

I don’t get what “gone to greath lenght to make them friends” supposed have anything with sinking the possibility. If anything, one person would expect close friends to become a romantic couple in canon. It’s not like they inserted any line about them having “sibling” relationship or anything like that. So far it looks like a couple who wasn’t yet awakened romantically. For example neither Avatar The Last Airbender or Kim Possible character had ever experienced love from the first sight. All major ships are based on long term “platonic friendship” that was canonised in the last seasons. Same may happen with MLP.

Going by Avatar Extras, although Katara x Aang became official at the end, Aang definitely fell in love at first sight of Katara. Also, SugarMac had the two hook up in their first episode together in S7, and they first met no earlier than S6.

I dont think it was a love from first sight. Katara was very sister like in the beginning. ANd SugarMac is a bad example. Just like ShiningxCadance or FlashxTwilight such rushed relationship make them more hollow and unappealing. And in real life they cause most of the couple to break apart after some years. That happens when partners dont really know eachother and develop romance without the basis of friendship.

I get where you’re coming from, but I just don’t know if Hasbro would go for Fluttercord, since that would be hard to clear away with the G5 retcon. I don’t expect any ships to sail with the last season, there’s too little gain for Hasbro to make that kind of big change.

Katara being sister-like doesn’t negate Aang falling in love at first sight. Second, only Flash - Twilight really counts. Shining x Cadence for certain and possibly Sugar Belle x Big Mac clearly had a history of seeing each other. Their union was simply the first time we saw them. Unlike them, Flash and Twilight first met when we first witnessed them meet.

Not showing us their bond over time doesn’t really count. We still don’t know much about them and why would they fall in love with eachother other than physical attraction. Unlike them, Discord and Fluttershy had whole episode describing why they like eachother despite their differences.

The show gave us just enough of them for fans to use their imaginations to create heaps of fanwork for them. They’re a fairly popular ship, and just because we don’t see their relationship from its beginning doesn’t make it unenjoyable, nor does it mean it’s on life support. The level of development is clearly not the determining factor of a ship’s popularity in all cases. Is a real world relationship rushed just because you meet someone right before their marriage? Not every single detail needs to be explained; it’s ok to leave viewers imagining. And how about LyraBon? We don’t know how they met, yet the idea that they’re in a romantic relationship is incredibly popular.

My uncle’s cousin’s brother’s college roommate’s next door neighbor works at Hasbro, and he says Starlight will become an alicorn in the series finale.
