That’s a very good point. I also have mixed feelings, both good and bad, for how they handled Lesson Zero.
 
Personally, I would not have preferred Celestia giving a huge punishment to Twilight, but not get her off scott-free either. She was at high anxiety for quite a while. What I would of liked Celestia to have done is, very importantly…
 
Remind her that her actions effect others as well, and that she should not just think about herself when deciding what is right.
 
…But then, ease Twilight with the admission that she herself did not teach Twilight that before she had friends, and assure her she should not feel so pressured, especially since, as a group, they have all exceeded her expectations
 
I feel that would of made for a very touching and worthwhile moment that could of been delivered by a far more open-minded Celestia then who was presented in S3 and beyond.

Twilight’s alicornification could’ve been more tolerable had Twilight and Celestia encountered a tormented hatred filled soul of King Sombra, or what remained of him, in the Twilight Zone. Twilight faces against him, and eventually frees him of his torment and purged the evil from his soul granting him eternal peace.  
When the two reaches an alter or something, Twilight is made into an alicorn after some cryptic fancy Pope speech by Celestia. Upon alicornification, Sunset Shimmer, bitter and resentful of Twilight’s new position which she believe belongs to her, somehow intrudes into the Twilight Zone to assail Twilight. Twilight uses her new found magic boost to strike Sunset down, Sunset retreats(foreshadowing EqG events). Twilight returns to her friends who were waiting outside.

Twilight fixing Sombra without lasers would be a treat.

I can really see it fitting that Twilight uses Crusade as it is an instant kill special attack.
 
Or instead of Sombra. Maybe the reminent of Nightmare Moon’s powers that Twilight has to purge from the world in the Twilight Zone.
 
Twilight Sparkle is the Yggdra Yuril Artwaltz of FiM.
 
Sombra could be Emperor Gulcasa Trying to sacrifice himself, after being nearly beaten by the Mane 6 during the Season 3 premier, by throwing himself down the abyss to summon destruction onto the land. Twilight and her friends have to stop him from doing so.

Your mention of Sombra and Sunset there really highlights one of MMC’s bigger problems: In comparison to everything else Twilight has gotten credit for, the events of this episode are boring. It didn’t have a villian (unless you want to count Celestia as one for starting this whole mess, but she’s still at worst an antagonist to me), it had no new locations, and no real threat. The cutie mark catastrophe plot would have been filed away as just another Ponyville disaster if it didn’t segue into Twilight’s transformation. If this was supposed to be the end of Twilight’s journey, it’s an anti-climax.
 
As bad as it was, the first Equestria Girls movie would have made a better catalyst for Twilight’s transformation, since it ends with Twilight defeating the previous candidate for the transformation in a way that’s thematically linked to the themes of the series.

When I watched an LP of Yggdra Union, saw how Yggdra’s coronation went, and how Gulcasa’s his final stand.
 
I just realized how much potential was wasted in MMC and The Crystal Empire Sombra. To think the Season 3 premier also had a “bad ending” scenario shown, when Twilight was under Sombra’s spell. Instead of Twilight failing her “test”. They could’ve shown Equestria being engulfed by Sombra’s hellfire reduced to ashes as a beast Sombra summons by sacrificing himself terrorizes Equestria.
 
Video Games do this better.

Here is the thing. Your opinion does not matter in the long run of things. Hasbro will dictate where the show goes, and no amount of criticism from the bronies shall affect this.
 
Don’t like it? Too bad. You just have to deal with it. The majority happen to prefer the way the show is at the moment. You are in the minority here my friend. Complainers are always wrong anyway.

Well, there’s the confusingly prevalent notion that our opinions, which we can swear up and down are still those, have the goal of changing the show. And while that might be a hope some have, we’re merely here to express and share these opinions in an intelligent manner, and dissect them and the show that spawned them out of interest in the going-ons in the show.
 
Also, the idea that people who engage in this activity are somehow not dealing with it when they do that isn’t true. This is how we deal with it. So you’ll have to Live With It.
 
And while I won’t pretend to know the exact values of the minorities and majorities, I can assure you that we aren’t as insignificant as you want us to be.
 
And, I’m afraid the Complainer is not Always Wrong. That kind of outlook isn’t a fair one to have.
 
And I gotta tell you now, I don’t think you’re gonna have a good time here, buddy.
