Hey big boss any input on what I said above about possibility to a new Commissioned only Uploads based badge as an alternative to the Fine Arts one? Cheers!

If a commission-only badge ever occurs, I wonder if this user would at least get the badge, even if there’s “only” 36 uploads because of this tag.

i’m out of the loop on this one. is this a badge for people who upload work they themselves have commissioned from artists, or just commissioned work as a whole? i’m definitely in favor of the former, but while i’m not against the latter i kind of think it would be pretty hard on our end to determine who was eligible and hand it out.

Upload art you have commissioned, as I explained and I am hardly the only one to do so, I like uploading here the art I commission being one of the “requests” of my part for funding the draw.
 
I love making a cute FleetDash collection and I will continue to only upload draws of it commissioned by me, funding those artists I like the styles the most.
 
I also like the badges but the only two I’m “entitled” to one day is Fleur’s and the Fine Arts badge one, however realistic speaking 200 commissions for any one would take forever, I could never compete with who’s used uploading first thing release in DA every day… (Not the point either as I only want my FleetDash collection uploaded)
 
the Fleur’s still achievable as is so I don’t complain about it but I really think there should an alternative to the Fine Arts, could even be Rarity the little badge still cuz “generosity” and paying money for draws nowadays get it? xD for uploads of your own commissioned work.
 
It would be a really cool gesture, not every one can draw but that doesn’t mean they can appreciate art enough to commission stuff, and artists commission art from each other plenty too, would be a cool addition to the badge collection in my humble opinion.

You are providing the pony art community a service by funding the creation of more quality pony content. I’d think that deserves as much of a badge as anything else.

I agree that’s a pretty integral part of keeping the community alive and deserves a badge.

Rewarding good commissioners with a badge seems like a good idea. The implementation might be tricky though, since basing it on upload might create more issues on the upload credit front.

Oh yes I love commissioning stuff it always is a very pleasing and fun experience and it is part of the pony art reality so it’s nice to consider it.

I don’t understand why being so salty about it, you speak as if it is of no worthy or valuable contribution but I spend an entire month working really hard so I can have the joy of a payment that allows me give an artist the same joy of a payment for his working hard, every one does what they can to keep the pony community alive ^^

This is how I like to think of it. Some people draw, upload,  
write or translate, etc. Everyone just does what they can, I think commissioning is perfectly serviceable for a badge. c:

Ohh. Seeing it from PC.. yeah I can see that. So my guess a commisoner is someone who gets the commission, or the artist who makes it? If it’s the latter, maybe a paint palette?

I’d suggest a crossed brush and pencil, with a $ sign behind it perhaps?

That’s kinda blunt. I mean not knocking you, it is kinda humorous. However, the commissioners are basically consumers of a product, and (not always but) often the artists are doing it for a living. I’d like to order a sandwich at Subway and get dollar bills mixed in the lettuce in my sandwich.
 
Besides, can’t always think in monetary terms. Quality (well often anyway) material is added to the system through commissions.

(EDIT: Skimming my folder, it’s a lot less than I realized. A lot of my recent drawings are requests or gifts because I’ve lacked money for commissions. Makes me really appreciate artist generosity).

something i want to start is a badge for pony game developers. i really only have one specific recipient in mind as of yet, but there are enough devs out there deserving of it i think.
 
more than anything else, game devs can post their screen shots here to show off and spread awareness of their game, right? that’s worthy of an artist badge in and of itself, but i really want to reward people for all the hard work that honestly does go into making an indie game.
 
so… i need me some ideas for a badge.
