True they did but I have to agree about Alice’s “Inner Darkness” Being all this story needs. And another thing that bothers me about him look at his cutie mark, it’s not even original its a black version of Celestia’s cutie mark.

I agree. Alice’s own “inner darkness” is villainous enough for me. But what bothers me is that he doesn’t seem to be very different from Lord Tirek. Except that this one is a pony and can only steal the magic of exactly one being.
 
To their credit, they’d already warned us about this guy, on page 31 (if not sooner), so at least they didn’t pull him out of thin air. (>>637557)
