I just figured he got a hold of the hammer but whether it’s Screamer or Shockwave getting the drop on him it just proves my point he’s rusty  
I’m just saying I would have liked Magnus to have had atleast one onscreen moment of awsome before he died

pretty sure shockwave had to do a backstab manuever to do that kind of damage because if a full powered shot to the face failed to kill magnus, that would’ve been one heck of an offscreen mauling to do that level of hurt.

That’s the problem I have with Mags he’s supposed to be authority equals asskicking but he never had an opportunity to do one badass thing other except for wiping out some earth drones and depressing to think that guy who’s supposed to be a war hero was going to go offline in season 4 in such a bridge dropping way just so Sential could become Magnus  
But I suppose in UM and Celestia’s case you can say they went soft they used to be able to handle things but centuries of peace time made them lose their edge and have to the next generation handle it  
In other words: they can’t deal with that now

i recall a scene about lex being jealous of the kents because they are waaay better parents than his dad (but i can’t find the exact source). but being a multiverse, the canonicity of that could be debatable.
 
probably the greatest mistakes about sombra’s upbringing would be sending him to school without prior education (despite being a quick learner, he still would be ostracized for not being able to converse properly) and his lineage (it would’ve prevented all the crystal faire pain attacks) being revealed way too late.
 
i agree on the celestia-ultra magnus ones but UM was on the receiving ends of brutal beatdowns (one shot from starscream in the face. assassination attempt by shockwave).

Speaking of useless leaders and camparing ponies to TFA characters…  
Lota people compare Celestia to Optimus but if you think about it she’s more like animated Ultra Magnus both powerful but ultimately useless to the plot authority figures

and yes, if they rectified a LOT of the mistakes with the treatment of sombra early on, he might have turned out vastly different.

Had we gotten season 4 she would have left to create the predacons
 
Back to my original point why I ended up liking the backstory because they take a generic doomsday bad guy and turned him into somebody who reminded me of one of the best versions of Megatron

There’s a bit more depth to Sombra now and they managed to do a nice bit of world building

If your talking about the Constructicons rember Lugnut was going P.O.K.E. them before Megtron stop him because he thought they’d be useful  
Meg’s gives the Concons the whole “we’re the victims” spiel but all they wanted was oil  
The Cons are “all inclusive” so long as you’re a machine  
“…refining the galaxy by cleansing it of organic races too backward to recognize their inferior nature” that’s not from animated it’s IDW but it’s a look at the con mentally from one of it’s nicer members

i like the fact that the decepticons in animated are more willing to accept other people in their ranks than the autobots. though megatron casts doubt on the sincerity of that act (he’s probably using them as much as possible for his goals)

I liked Sombra’s backstory he now reminds my of TF Animated Megatron fighting to free his people  
The Decepticons/shadow pony are evil but can cast themselves as the oppressed
