Of human Fluttershys this one is one of my favorites.

As someone pointed out before, her issues are more related to interactions with other ponies.  
There is no hint about her being unconfident of her appearance or being troubled at being looked at (when she is not performing). Is when she must deal with others that she become shy and submissive.  
She would never accepted to be a model if she was troubled at being looked at. Now someone could tell “but she is so kind she was unable to refuse”, well just look at “hurricane Fluttershy” episode. She is not so easy to force in doing things she hate to do.

I actually remember how everybody on ponibooru had some really good commentary when it comes to the “Hootershy” images.
 
The main logic was that because Fluttershy was considered the motherly one of the group, and that one’s bra’s size apparently indicates motherhood. It makes it very awkward for a shy person (Fluttershy) to have large breast, Mainly because people would be looking at her when she’s already nervous of people looking at her to begin with.
 
For me, I don’t mind “Hootershy” related images. Most likely because I’m a guy, but to be honest, size doesn’t really matter to me. So you won’t get much of a complaint from me.

I was doing it to explain my ideas clearly and avoid misunderstandings. And I kinda liked spending my time writing and discussing.

WHY IS EVERYONE POSTING LONG COMMENTS!!!

First, go watch the episode again, notice when Photo Finish approves of Fluttershy’s poses, then watch her first fashion show, and notice when does the audience start cheering her.
 
Second, all the mane 6 have the same body type, and I doubt the creators would have made a difference because of the events of 1 episode. More varied body types came in season 2, and Fleur has that body to emphasize she’s a model (or at least hint).
 
Third, I’ve never said I wanted to do that. And I repeat myself: “Bigger boobs don’t mean more beautiful”, and I repeat myself again: “I don’t think she’s ugly”. Maybe it’s because I said plain a total of 1 time, but because in my opinion she wouldn’t have big breasts doesn’t mean she wouldn’t have breasts at all.

Look, we don’ t have standard for ponies.  
From what the authors say the “supermodel build” is like the princesses and fancypants wife.  
But i doubt this mean every other pony is ugly as hell.  
Wanna draw humanized Fluttershy as a plain bad looking girl without tits? Feel free, nobody can or have the right to stop you. Artists that are not gonna follow your headcannon surely have their good reasons too.

IMHO it was pretty clear Photo Finish only got interested in her when she made cute poses, likewise with the audience first reaction, and after that they followed what was popular. Haven’t you noticed cute characters tend to get popular easily?

Then again, IMHO becoming a succesfull model is a just a tiny little hint in that direction.

^Okay, now that’s just wishful thinking. Maybe it’s because Rarity is their favorite client. Maybe Fluttershy isn’t too keen on getting her face smeared in cucumber mask, or she isn’t too much into spas and is only tagging along with Rarity. But there is nothing in that scene that implies something about their beauty.
 
About my previous post, I wasn’t outright saying it made more sense. I said it made as much sense, because it has a similar reasoning (something about her body relates to her shyness), and when I said it might make more sense I didn’t meant to say it was because of that particular reason, there are some others (as a filly she was gangly, as a pegasus she may have low fat to be able to fly, as a human she would probably be vegetarian, which also means low fat, and considering the stereotypical model is thin, maybe that could be another reason Rarity choose her as a model, but I digress). Also, I never said confidence is only about beauty, of course there are a lot other factors. That should clear things a bit. Maybe I should take that last bit back, because you’re right, nothing implies she has appearance issues, but then again, nothing suggests she has an attractive body either.

About the BG pony that wrote about humanized Fluttershy making more sense if being aesthetically plain: IMHO is a very naive reasoning. Is just like being confident or insecure is about being a beauty or not. But Fluttershy never showed any sign about being insecure cause of her appearance. She is more like she have some kind of agoraphobia, and lack guts when she must deal with others. But nowhere is hinted that her behaviour is caused by issues related to her appearance.  
Then i suggested that part of what have shaped her character could be the teasings and bullying she had to endure when she was a filly, and not knowing anything about her family we can suppose everything. For example she could have been raised by terrible parents that destroyed her self-esteem.  
So assuming for certain that being pretty and big busted must make the individual assertive and confident, while all the plain girls should be shy and remissive is very naive cause don’ t take into account of almost every parts that shape a personality: childhood, parenthood, education, relationships, possible traumas… and many other things. It sounded like he was assuming that people is shy only when they thinks they are ugly.

^First, the only time one of them looked embarrased was because they were about to file a horn that Fluttershy didn’t have.
 
Second, could you rephrase what you said on the second paragraph? I din’t quite understand it.

^And about the spa sequence, just look at Lotus and Aloe almost embarassed cause Fluttershy is already so good they don’ t know what to do…
 
I think that BG pony make a question of confidence only about aestetic. If i’ m beauty i’ m confident, if i’ m ugly i’ m shy. But things don’ t work this way. Just to begin with we know in her childhood she was teased and bullied a lot. And who know with her family background…  
Is kinda a stupid reasoning to assume that pretty big busted girls must be overconfident no matter what.

I think you’re right. She does have her moments, but overall she’s more meek and quiet. It’s just symbolism, the point is she’s a nice girl with some motherly instincts, not a timid mother.

I doubt Fluttershy is ugly. She goes to the spa with Rarity and looks pretty. But here Rarity is trying to convince her to model for her. She is graceful enough to not screw up on the catwalk, and she’s Rarity’s good and “kind enough to not say no” friend, but she’s not exactly “fabulous”. It’s obvious Rarity was complimenting her to make her cooperate. And leaving aside why Rarity wanted her, Photo Finish did pick her because she was cute, it was kinda a plot point, so it was indeed about moe material.
 
One more thing, beauty can take many forms. It doesn’t have to boil down to who has the biggest breasts. She could have a tall and slender body and a youthful face and still be beautiful.

I like to think Hootershy wears the least flattering clothes she can find, in order to keep people from noticing her.
