Hey Triek is not a looker
Personally I think this trope is a lot more fitting: 😉

“Since I was small”
It’s a song, does not have to be literal
small could mean younger, she never said grub
Also they feed of of love, not love directed towards them
It’s called killing two birds with one stone
But see, Chrysalis’ whole point for trying to conquer Canterlot was that it had more love than any other place she ever encountered and that she wanted to do it since she was a grub. The comic then made her backstory into that she was attacked by racist ponies who tried to genocide her race for laughable reasons. In other words the furthest thing away from loving. If that is how she learns about ponykind, it’s the absolute worst start in light of what she later claims was her motivation. It makes no sense.
“But this is such an odd choice of backstory for Chrysalis. I always thought that her duty to find food for her subjects was what made her compelling, and a big part of why people like her. The changeling way of life is predatory by nature, and that was also part of the appeal. Everything you need was already there, you don’t need to give her a tragic backstory.”
Somewhat agreed, but it could be how she learns about ponykind
“I get this impression that the artist hasn’t thought this whole thing through.”
“And that’s why I don’t have high hopes for this comic.”
The artist has proven to be a competent writer before, I would not jump to conclusions so fast for a comic that has one page a week
DerpyFast said it best on that matter:
The author literally said he toned down Cozy Glow’s story because “it was too dark,” so that excuse isn’t gonna work.
Neither was shown on panel, only talked about or implied. Not to mention the fact that all of these backstories seem to be from the villains perspective, so what they didn’t see, we don’t see either.
@Background Pony #D09E
It’s a Fan Fic, and those OC are are so minor it dose not matter
Sure Deux could have gone with her looking for food for her hive like she said when we first meet her, but this gives her more of a reason not to trust others
Edited because: add
One bit that was almost surely accidental, but quite notable otherwise.
Disagreed. I’ve seen it used way too often as a way to deflect attention.
If @DR CHRISMAN point was they want to see a redemption regardless of if the comic needs to drum up sympathy by inventing a couple of evil ponies for Chrysalis to learn to hate ponies, then that’s different, and not the message clear to me in their first post.
“What hypocrisy did I engage in?”
I didn’t say you did… - . -
I was talking about whataboutism in general.

What hypocrisy did I engage in?
Oh, I know what it is. I just dont see why is wrong or how you can dubunk it by mentioning “tHis iS wHaTaBoUtIsM”. If the man is right he is right.
This is not the Soviet unions NKVD that term would work there but no here.
In my opinion and that’s totally subjective whataboutism is a sneaky dodge of admitting hypocrisy but that’s just me.
I don’t think you know what that words means, to be honest. If your answer to criticism is “well what about X”, then that’s whataboutism. It’s a technique to deflect from the argument. Did the comic, or did it now, introduce a couple of evil ocs to make Chrysalis look better?
Edited
Just like that you engaged in whataboutism too.
It really does not matter what YOU think of them its your opinion and just that an opinion. But we are speaking of the same franchise and they same tactics said franchise used. Its the examples THEY gave us it is not whataboutism to call those out.
Edited
Does not matter what you think of them, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander
I just saying I want consistency, you know Twilight would have help them if she saw them feel the power of friendship on the Mountain.
You’re engaging in whataboutism. Look it up. You have no idea what I think of either of them, and even if you did, it has no impact on what this story does with Chrysalis.
