This was my first ever attempt to make a vector, and I think it turned out okay. I was running out of time, and didn’t know how to do a few things to look right, so I ended up coloring the picture with Gimp, which didn’t come out looking quite right. I also didn’t have time to fix a couple little problems with the lines here and there, but nothing major. I would have done a better job with the conversation going on around her, but I didn’t have time.

I’d had an idea in mind for an evil joke for a while, so I was waiting for this theme to come up. I had wondered why Granny Smith seemed to be the only old character in the show. And then I thought about how common it is for character names to represent attributes of the character’s appearance or directly relate to their cutie mark, so I thought maybe “Granny Smith” simply referenced her color, rather than her actually being anyone’s grandmother. So then I decided that she’s actually Applejack’s sister, just a few years older, but she has pony progeria, so she looks like an old woman.

This was my attempt to draw her as a young pony in the early stages of pony progeria. It was really tough to make her look both young and old at the same time. I wasn’t sure what color to make her hair, since it’s basically white in the show. So I decided to simply eyedrop the color from a screenshot (turned out a very faint blue) then darken it slightly to make her look younger. Afterward, I realized that she’s generally depicted as having orangish hair in young versions, but I think the blue works better for mine anyway. I also realized I forgot to add any shinyness to the eyes, but that dead look actually seems better, considering the situation.

Not quite sure how to categorize this, since it’s only half a vector.
