Now, now! We don’t say things like that anymore in today’s enlightened times. After all, ponies are united in a totally egalitarian society, even earth ponies.
 
And if certain types of pony just happen to end up in all the hard, badly paid, menial occupations, it’s just because they are so well suited for it. Surely it must be what their cutie marks are telling them, and not the result of a deeply ingrained societal bias.

I was gonna make a comment about how it will never be used for it’s intended purpose, but then I noticed that it’s green apple.
 
I can’t tell if that’s an accident, or evidence.

Well, obviously you can’t expect Marketing to put a common earth pony on the product.
 
Kids need to learn the fact that some ponies are meant for lives of manual labour while other, prettier ponies are meant for the limelight. And if the merchandise can subtly reflect and reinforce this value by putting the photogenic pegasus on the apple-scented lotion, rather than the common work-horse who actually works with apples, then who could object to that?
