It would also be why Airships and hot air balloons are also a big thing. Pegasi could easily direct an air current to a destination making them travel faster and exactly where someone would want to go.
I like that idea. It would certainly explain why they seem to have the ability to make motorized vehicles, but never use them outside of festivals and cart races.
Trains being the exception of course, because moving a lot of ponies and/or a lot of items would probably be beyond one pony’s capabilities, and require some kind of technology assistance.
