Well, if you don’t wanna repeat Armies you can always just throw him with the Imperial Knights given they are a playable faction again in the latest editions of 40k.
 
Granted, you’re the artist and it’s your call but I can sort of see the match fluff wise between the Knights and Shining.
 
Or, you can go with the Imperial Fists or Black Templars (Although, the black templars might be stretching it a bit)…or…Reasonable Marines maybe? xD
 
Still, your the artist so your call. No matter your choice it’s bound to still be cool.

Big Mac is on my ‘to do’ list.  
He’ll be getting Salamanders.  
Mainly because the primarch Vulkan stated that he wanted to retire as a farmer in the book ‘Vulkan Lives’.
 
I think my next one’ll be Discord though.

We know Shining Armor’s a TG guy from the school comic they did a while back.  
And most gamer girls are drawn to these sort of things because either their father, brother or partner are in to them. (My daughter’s taken an interest in 40k, and my missus has a small Eldar army too).
 
Shining armor’s always portrayed with Grey Knights, (and it’s hardly surprising given his name and job).  
I didn’t want to repeat armies, but I think this one would have to be an exception. The match just fits too well.
 
As for Cadance, I can only ever think of a certain comic strip from ages ago…

Hard to say. The Reasonable Marines mostly run on common sense, and common sense is virtually nonexistent in Equestria.

As for grey knights, I’ve done those with Celestia, although I suspect you’ll have already seen this one.

Hopefully making up for it with the dual-wielding thunderhammer jump pack guy.
 
Only the Angry marines can do that.
 
Although I do have a Space Wolf Guard battle leader armed with a thunderhammer and storm shield, runic armor (like artificer armor), and a jump pack. That guy’s just awesome in a game. At over 200 points for a 2 wound commander who doesn’t have eternal warrior though, it’s pretty steep to field him.  
Last game I used him in, he accounted for a predator, a vindicator, a full 10 man squad of marines, and a devastator squad before a sniper unit finally nailed him.

Heh, this works way to well.
 
…So, does this mean that Twilight Sparkle uses Grey Knights? I can’t be the only one who can see her using them.

Soarin’s pretty marine army always loses this game.
