Emerald scoops up his hat and then asks Joyride when she is going to get ready for the party, and asks if he can help. Maybe he can get some revenge.
“Not for a while, and I don’t need much help. I’ve been to enough fancy parties just knowing Hope alone that I’ve become an expert at this.”
Emerald’s mind wanders to what Hope might look like dressed up, and suddenly has the urge to get her a present. Emerald asks Joyride what a good present for Hope would be.
“Heh, trying to win some favor are you? Well, Hope isn’t really a material objects kind of person, and even if she was she could probably buy whatever it is she wants herself. Just put some thought into whatever you want to give her and I’m sure she’ll like it.” Joyride says, already slipping a key out and putting it into the door, “Now don’t bug me, I’m going to veg out for a little bit. I’ll come get you when we need to start getting ready.”
