Yeah, Sunset will probably never be a recurring character in the main show, that I can safely agree with.

Well, I don’t think having her go back to Equestria was ever part of the deal as that would mean making her part of the show. That’s what I meant. She’s not a FiM character and I don’t believe her being part of the crew was ever on the table.

You’re right, you never did. I think what @Background Pony #06ED meant was actually “allow her to return to Equestria”. Then, the chain of misunderstandings spiraled from there. I apologize for being part of it.

The Equestria Girls movies have been confirmed to be canon, bruh. They just don’t impact the main show is all (too lazy right now to find the tweet from Meghan McCarthy that says so, if someone could dig it up for me, that would be great).

Well, the Twilight that came through the portal at the end and told them about the time travel loop she got caught in did seem to be the one Sunset and her friends knew.
My headcanon is that Starlight’s rampage at the end of the fifth season removed her from the main timeline (and nobody remembers her, not even Twilight), but all the alternate worlds still exist. So there’s still the EG world and an Equestria linked to it, but it’s not the one from the series.
By turning into Daydream Shimmer and stopping Midnight Sparkle, Sunset unwittingly earned her alicornhood. Should she ever go back to Equestria, she’d be in for a surprise.
Actual plausibility: mid to low (but I enjoy the idea too much to really care about that)
