Derpy was found loitering outside of Nightmare Moon’s Grand Palace in Canterlot. She was in search of food to help out her friends in Ponyville, and also hoping to find some muffins. Derpy and many other ponies have been going hungry. Ever since Nightmare Moon has taken control over Equestria, the earth ponies are not able to grow crops effectively. The Royal Bat Guard have strict control over all of Equestria’s important resources including the food supply. Little did Derpy know that she was snooping around at the capital of the malevolent queen herself. Unfortunately for poor Derpy she was captured by the guards and taken to the dungeon for questioning.

After being hoofed around a bit by the Royal Bat Guard, Derpy was not spilling the beans as to why she was trespassing. They believed her to be a spy and she was given rough treatment. Eventually her capture was escalated to Nightmare Moon herself. The Captain of the Guard was only able to get out the words: “food”, “please no more”, and “m-muffin…”. The Captain was not buying it. Nightmare Moon takes matters into her own hooves and treats Derpy to a personal interrogation session.

Nightmare Moon was in no mood to play games and she saw how beat up the prisoner was. Her Royal Bat Guard did well, she thought to herself. She giggled. No pony has dared to spy on the Grand Palace, at least not after the first uprising many Moons ago. With fiendish glee, Nightmare Moon speaks to her prisoner and asks the normal questions. Again, all the responses are about food or muffins. Getting a little bored of this endeavor, her Majesty decides to take things a step further. Nightmare Moon prepares a brain leech to really find out what is going on with this suspicious pony.
