Well, I suppose that this confirms that the changedlings live on more than just each other’s love. Seems like changedling society isn’t a perpetual motion machine after all, if they have an outside source of energy.
 
This of course raises all sorts of questions. Are changelings “omnivores” who need to consume both love and physical food? Or do they need to maintain a certain level of love energy or whatever it is to facilitate a more traditional metabolism? Not that I expect these questions to be answered in the show, they’re completely besides its point, but it’s fun to speculate. And that’s what fanworks are for, anyway.

Do insects, grubs, salmon roe sushi, and snail-based gravy count as “ponies eating meat” (especially considering they’re changelings)?
