Be be frank, I really wish the conflict wasn’t resolved with a song.
Now I’m sure they may have had to, maybe even the one used, but how about cutting out Thorax running away and try to make time for a more gradual resolution. How about Candace and/or Shining be more begrudging in the end, leaving work to be done to gain trust. Just would seem better than what we got.
Two of the amusing things about the rushed ending of this episode actually fall in line with the headcanons of many folks here.
Such as the crystal ponies being exceedingly dimwitted sheep that agree with whatever a leader figure says, and Cadance being a sloot the princess of love and wanting to take any chance at all to “get friendly” with a male figure.
There IS the aspect that Thorax isn’t guilty of committing any crime other than being a changeling and has technically been starving since the end of season 2 due to his refusal to “steal love”, so, in that aspect, forgiving him is understandable.
They really should have done something similar for a laugh in the episode. Like Cadence having a forced smile and looking like she was ready to hide Flurry at the slightest hint of trouble.
This is why it was so refreshing that, in “Fame and Misfortune”, the big musical number didn’t end up solving the problem after all.
