A funeral should be a happy occurrence, if you truly believe the person is in a better place. If you do, crying about their death is just selfishness. If you don’t believe they’re in a better place, by all means, cry your eyes out.

Actually in some locations, funerals are kinda like parties.
In some african country, coffins are made to resemble funny things like pieces of cake, whisky bottles, or any thing the deceased was interested in life.

Then there’s the fact that they’ve been alive for well over a thousand years, they might not be goddesses but, they sure as heck aren’t normal mortals, I always kinda thought of them as being similar to the tribunal of Morrowind

I’m thinking that Celestia and Luna have a far more intrinsic relationship with the sun and moon, beyond “just using a levitation spell to heave the fuckers across the sky”. That would require an overwhelming amount of dexterity and precision at all moments, to the point that poking Celestia and surprising her might mean causing a horrific drought, or in Luna’s case causing massive tidal waves by fucking with the moon’s pull. Our own earth has a very delicate relationship with the sun and moon. If Celestia and Luna truly do control the celestial bodies, it’s probably a might bit more complicated than simple levitation.

Yeah but we’re talking levitation on a galactic scale. That would quite possibly require every unicorn in Equestria to get it to work. And even then it might not be enough.

I thought about it, and decided it made the song more hilarious.

I’m far more upset by the inclusion of video games in the sequence, though. Really messes up the generally accepted state of Equestrian technology.

Yeah, I feel as though that part about unicorns just slipped by everyone. Trained teams of unicorns could do what the princess are best known for.

Who’s to say Celestia and Luna are even gods, though? If the Hearth’s Warming tale isn’t nothing more than a fairy tale, then raising the celestial bodies is really no big deal. It just happens to be the princesses’ special talents. Why have a few unicorns dedicate their entire lives to something when you have two immortals that can do it effortlessly every day?

I dunno, too much headcanon being thrown around. We don’t even know if ponies are religious. They had a priest in that episode, but he could just be the go-to pony for funeral rites and marriage and whatnot.

@Imp
…because that makes sense.

They say “The Devil walks among us”, he left hell, and that still existed.

Also, it’s a god, you’re saying they can’t occupy two planes of existence?

You’re talking about colourful, magical pony goddesses. 2+2 doesn’t really work here.
deactivated5398f3

No.

…why would I? Isn’t have the sadness at a funeral not knowing if your loved ones are safe?

Their goddess lives on the planet with them. They know there’s an afterlife then. So no.

Also, I’m Irish, we have happy funerals here. “Irish Wake” and all that. So singing is common.

2 thing.
1 - It was part of a musical number, nothing that happens in it has an impact on anything if the whole show is a musical.
2 - See 1, then slap yourself for putting words in Shy’s mouth.

Fun fact:
That wasn’t actually a funeral. It was an auction, and the coffin was an antique.
