Well, RD is not exactly elegant and feminine most of the time, so it fits.
Dash looked alot better in the IDW one though; the sarashi was great.
This is more stereotypically pirate, but less elegant and feminine.

Yeah, I have that one. But I got the impression somewhere that RD was being done in fan art as a pirate even before that.
There was an early IDW series that has the ponies as pirates, RD front and center; that’s where most likely came from
Wow, and I thought I was being original when I had her done as an anthro pirate by Vicky Wyman some years ago.
