Multiverses and all that. From memory, the way Faust pitched the character was “He’s basically Q from Star Trek” and the Hasbro execs asked if they could actually get him.
But at the end of Voyager’s run (“Q2”), he’s giddy in practically every scene. There’s a lot of good dialogue in that episode that would make good fan animations in anyone were so inclined.
And Discord’s about two steps away from literally being Q. I think Faust admitted to creating Discord after a TNG binge.
Although I guess you could argue that, within the canons of both settings, it is possible they are the same individual…
