I prefer the one on the right. The final version. Because she’s more demonic, more tyrany, and more powerful than Lord Tirek I think.
Reclaiming

Well, one is for selling toys aimed at small, visually-inclined girls, and the other is something the animators had to redraw and rig repeatedly. Of course the movie-version would be much more simple and manageable…that said, I prefer the movie one for that fact. Efficient and to the point is the name of the game when it comes to character design, IMO.

As usual Hasbro hands DHX a turd and the crew polishes it to an entertaining shine.

Hope DHX gets paid well for all their hard work.

Yeah, I was kinda hoping that she would at least touch on that in her motive ranting. “This world doesn’t care about me, so why should I care about this world?” or something like that.

Well, their point seems to mostly be that such a big amount of power, if used without friendship, drives anyone mad. Midnight Sparkle was mostly, at least to me, a way of justifying Sunset’s sudden redemption at the end of the first movie, and it could actually even apply to Luna, even someone with no desire to harm, like Twilight would be overwelmed.

This is why the movies aren’t taken seriously by some people! Because the toy art and ads always portray them as these glorified models, when in fact they look nothing like that in the movies!

The box art for the dolls always seem to be really over designed with a ton of ugly looking photoshop filters. Like American cereal boxes.

Twilight seems to be the most powerful villain in all of G4 so far, but I think I might have liked Midnight Sparkle more if Twilight became more bitter towards the Shadowbolts and Cinch as the movie progressed. Then, when she transforms, it would make more sense for her to not care about / try to destroy the human world (and maybe want to run off to Equestria to study magic and feel accepted).
Background Pony #EF7B
The right one for the most part. I’m not too fond of the flaming updo because that seems more like Sunset Shimmer’s thing so I prefer the ponytail from the left.

Tbe problem I always have with the left art work is simply they use too much pastels which ruins the design to make it “prettier” when the other is “cooler” anyway.
