Did you seriously accuse Bobby Curnow and all the artists and writers on the MLP comic of being lazy and uncaring? I mean, I don’t have much respect for Curnow or several of the creative personnel on the comic, but that seems going way too far…

In this setting, only “pony” is correct, regardless of your personal opinions about IRL horses and ponies. Or you have proof that “horse” is regarded as “pony” in Equestria?
 
(And in G1, not only “horse” isn’t correct, even “pony” term is short form of official “Little Pony”)

Actually, the characters in the comic are the pedants. And wrong, too. While the term unicorn is used for unicorns in the show and therefore is correct, “horse” was never wrong and therefore not to be corrected.  
But yes, I’m pedantic, too.

Sorry, but, no, it’s indeed a horse, not a unicorn. A unicorn pony is a pony with unicorn traits, not an actual unicorn. If it was a unicorn, it wouldn’t be a pony.

I always wondered why bright red-green-blue-etc hair colors is never used by anyone nowadays, only natural colors when dyeing hair. It’s usually explained by “society thinks it’s show off, bla-bla-bla”, BUT: hair highlight is never a big deal (when every color is “natural”), despite it’s “not being natural” in general.
