Honestly, it’s cause since the 70s they’ve been using rainbow colored flags to represent diversity of the LGBT community. Seriously, you can’t claim rainbows as your banner. It’s like saying. “Oh, Earth is Gay cause it’s showered in every color of the rainbow!” OR “This pony must be gay because it’s a rainbow!”
 
I’m all for gay pride and such. I just think rainbows =/= gay pride. A rainbow flag, fine, but the rainbow itself! NEVER!!! TAKE BACK THE COLOR SPECTRUM FOR ALL! IT’S NOT JUST FOR THE LGBT COMMUNITY!!!

I understand where you are coming from. I am simply stating why I belive a straight Rainbow Dash would be more beneficial than a Gay dash, I am aware that people choose to see her as a lesbian. That does not mean i have to agree with it.

Couldn’t a similar argument be said for those who “get off” to imagining/drawing Dashie being gay with every single female character? (Yuri/lesbian-fetish fanart is quite popular/trendy in the MLP fanbase.)

On that note, all I was doing was posting a pic of how I see RD. I in no way called anyone else here wrong for shipping her straight. My issue was people commenting like RD was factually straight. I don’t go to other ship pages to tell them they are wrong. Just like anyone else, I posted what I like, that is all.

There’s no way they are going to make anything about someone’s sexuality in the show itself so there will never be a canon sexuality for any character.
 
Any character can be anything one prefers but Dash is a victim of the stereotype that tomboys must always be lesbians. Yeah she has a rainbow mane and tail but doesn’t have to do anything with her sexuality. It’s a magical land of Equestria after all. Also believe it or not, rainbows are a natural phenomenon.
 
So you want Dash to be straight, bi, lesbian or anything then go for it. Just don’t try and go saying others that they are wrong just because they like something else. Dash isn’t a symbol of homosexuality just like she isn’t a symbol of heterosexuality or bisexuality.
 
People are vastly different and their sexuality doesn’t lock them only in a specific sterotypical category. Just like boys can like colorful pony cartoons and like things that are often thought to be for girls, doesn’t mean they are all gay. If a girl likes things like sports, cars and things often thought to be more for men, doesn’t mean they are lesbian. You’d think we’d gotten rid of this kind of thinking but apparently no. I’ve even met people who think if a girl has a short hair it must mean that they are lesbian. So let’s all try to be a bit more open minded here okay?

I thought the line of thinking was that Dash isn’t automatically gay because she’s a Rainbow. She’s free to choose what she wants to be. Best comic relating to Dash, Gay pride and Rainbows being all confused at once.

As usual, that is a bad argument. Just because you aren’t supposed to assume Dash is gay, does not equal that she isn’t gay.
 
You are arguing a lot for considering yourself open minded. You simply cannot seem to wrap your mind around the fact that in some peoples headcanon, Dash is a lesbian.
 
I don’t go around to SoarinDash pics and argue that Rainbow is Gay simply because I said so. As a matter of fact I stated in a previous comment, that I fully respect straight ships of Dash. It would seem that as a “Fan” of the show, you have a bit to learn about acceptance and maybe returning that same respect to others that feel differently than you.
 
If you cannot adhere to this , then I am done with this line of discussion.

Well then just the fact that he has a kid proves he’s not gay. Being Gay means one has sexual desires for one’s own gender and not the other. So, Bisexual at best.

Technically as we never saw her mom her dad could be gay, but it’s not as likely, and I haven’t seen that headcanon yet.

I agree. Rainbow Dash doesn’t represent Gay Pride she just happens to be Born a flying Rainbow. I mean think about it, she could be as strait, gay or bi as she wishes. Personally I’m all for Bisexual Dashie just to make things easier but the point is the only other Rainbow Pony we’ve seen in the show is confirmed Strait because he is Dash’s father.

Lauren Faust created this show keeping in mind the idea to oppose stereotypes. This fandom first attracted me because of how the fans also stood up to stereotypes. Seeing those fans turn around and call Dash gay because of stereotypes strikes me as rather hypocritical. Faust even stated that it is unfair to assume Dash is gay because of how she appears, and I’d take that one step further to say a straight Rainbow Dash would better reflect this show and fandom. That’s not to say there shouldn’t be a gay character, I would welcome one. As long as it’s not Dash.

As much as I can/want to, I’m not going to turn this into a “Dash is X sexuality because blank happened in show” thread, anything that happens in the show can easily be retconned/explained away by the writers on a whim.
