I was reffering to the fact that I had no clue it even aired on cn
Putting a show on at a time where there’s going to be almost no one watching is whats referred to as a deathslot.
Deadslotted? There’s a slot??
Cartoon network’s deathslotted the transformers. Which is the reason Hasbro tried to make its own network in the first place, cartoon networks pretty much snubbing transformers in a way that has a high chance of making it fail.
Robots in disguise is on cn? I’ve seen exactly one ad, I wasn’t even sure where.
…Yeah, I think you’re right. My bad. Still, it’s amazing how despite the anonymity of the BP system you can still notice recurring trends from BPs and realize, “Those comments are probably all from the same guy.”
I think you’re confusing me with another BP, someone whose grasp of punctuation is, um, less than stellar. And in this case, at least, I was trying to convey eye-rolling annoyance more than outright hate.
Dude, really, I’m not terribly fond of 4chan either, but your hateboner for it is getting ridiculous.
That can’t be the reason; it must be that people knew ahead of time it was going to be an awful episode and didn’t fail to miss it. <//mlp/>
Didn’t the show for “older fans” get fucked in terms of airing on The Hub?
None of us have the energy.
Well that show seems to be designed to pick up the rescue bots crowd as they age from preschool to 5-10ish, so its intentionally dumbed down and kiddy. Prime didn’t sell well toys wise so hasbro pretty much said “screw older fans, the really young ones are our focus”.
@Anonycat
come on man, thats not realy bashing.
@Jarkes
im curious, what other sites or people factored in on the boom-birth of the fandom?
@Itsthinking
the new transformers? but that show is so crappy…
fucking hell, those kids have some shit taste.
also, to add to the viewvership argument, discovery channels (besides “kids”) arent exactly what i’d go looking for when thinking of kids cartoons.
i mean, what other cartoons is DF airing? and arent they all set at morning hours?
Because Discovery family is the equivilent of the Hub’s retarded brother, Discovery family is just TERRIBLE at its job.
They did, and then they made an ad only for the next two episodes. The Hub just made a generic “new episode next week!” ad and used it all season, I don’t know why DFC couldn’t do that.
Slice of Life came after a two-week hiatus. I don’t know for sure what sort of advertising Discovery did for it on the actual channel, but I think they kept showings ads for the premier until after Slice of Life aired.
Griffonstone deserved it, though.
I think the grand bulk of hardcore fans especially tend to watch it streamed or after the premiere, though, really.
I wasn’t saying that 4chan had nothing to do with it. I was saying that 4chan wasn’t the only factor. THAT is the “rewritten fandom story”; the idea that no one would’ve been interested in it at all if 4chan hadn’t drawn attention to it. Because clearly the fact that big animation names like Lauren Faust, Rob Renzetti, and Tara Strong were involved with the show, or the fact that some older fans have been fans since the G1 days and thought that this one might be the revival they had been hoping for for decades, wouldn’t have been a big enough draw on its own even WITHOUT 4chan’s help.
And you’re one to talk about “unable to stop bashing” things. How many times have you gone out of your way to bash IDW, even on discussion threads where no one is currently talking about them, or on images that have nothing to do with them?
Saying 4chan isn’t solely responsible for the fandom is bashing them?
You really can’t stop yourself from bashing 4chan whenever you can, eh.
Living an existence fueled by nothing but hatred, grudges and listen-to-me or never-my-fault can’t be neither healthy or happy, man.
Anyway, I have been watching the series from the beginning and commenting on 4chan since the old Pony General threads on /co/. I can tell you, like a guy who was literally there to see how it happened, that a considerable amount of popularity and ascended fandom content was specifically born there, even a popular site like Equestria Daily is originated from 4chan.
Years passed, things became a war for attention and ego fuel between new communities and overjealous fans and suddenly a noisy chunk of the fandom began to bash 4chan and demand everyone else to listen to them and their rewritten version of the fandom story instead.
It’s literally the only thing they have and that can’t be normal, especially among the older fans who do nothing but spew out hatred and poison to assert their domminance over a cartoon about friendship and niceness.
Since when did a one- or two-week break between new episodes become a “hiatus”?
…I’m honestly having trouble figuring out which part of my comment you’re replying to. Is it the part about 4chan and their role in the creation of the fandom? Because I did still say that they still played a large part in the creation of the fandom, but some people act like they’re literally the ONLY reason the fandom exists.
It was one of the major ones and trying to suggest anything else is honestly wishful thinking.
It’s the hiatuses that kill interest more than anything I think.
