Perhaps, but as we discussed here a few months ago, he’s my least favorite of the changedlings, at least on an aesthetic level. But if he was willing to revert to his much cuter original form, or even don that Crystal Hoof disguise again, then I’d happily snuggle him too.
Well duh. Besides, Thorax is quite possibly the best bughorse. All he really wants to do is be a good boy.

If I had a cute, love-eating shapeshifting bug horse in my basement, I’d tell them they could come up for a snuggle if they wanted to.
I’m not a terribly big fan of Equestria Girls fanfics, but I’ll give it a shot anyway. You were nice enough to drop me the link, so the least I can do is read it. Plus, there’s the chance of cute bug-horses, which is always nice.

Ah, you’re talking about the redesigns. Okay, cool, I think we were both on totally different topics, BP xD . My bad. Anyway, I wasn’t a terribly huge fan of the redesigns when they first came out either, but they grew on me with time. Thorax is hit or miss, I guess, mostly because I think it’s kind of hilarious that he’s this FABULOUS RAINBOW MOOSE-BUG that I doubt even Rarity could have dreamed up x3 .
Still, I can see why others would disagree with them, particularly because they didn’t really need to change at all. I think a nice route to go would’ve been the show reintroducing the changeling hive along a more subtle route, showing that even though they look scary they’re still just as much “people” (for the lack of a better word) as any other Equestrian creature. But at that point I think I’m diving way too deep xD .

Most bugs don’t bother me either, it’s just that I’d always loved the original changelings’ designs, so I was excited when I heard the changelings were coming back, which left a sore spot when the changelings… changed.
I don’t hate the designs anymore (except King Thorax’s), but at the same time, the only changedling I can honestly say that I like the design of is Ocellus.
Meh, I think they’re plenty cute. Then again, bugs also don’t really creep me out IRL.
If I had a talking, transforming bug living in my basement, I’d prolly leave ’em alone and let ’em stay.

If we would get some background story of Chrysalis (not the comics) then we might get an answer. Who knows, maybe something bad had happened between ponies and Changelings. I mean, even the three pony races had problems before they became one nation.
With some luck, this little Changeling means that we will get more Chrysalis soon

The problem is simply whether or not Changelings need to harm ponies to exist. If they don’t, then of course Celestia and everyone else would be fine with them.

I think it’s more that Celestia and Luna don’t hate the Changelings. As long as they don’t try to hurt anyone, they won’t be attacked. and they lived hidden side by side with ponies for a very long time I guess. So “eating love” doesn’t seem to have a negative effect on ponies. (Shining Armor had problems because of a spell to make him think Chrysalis is Cadence, not because of eating love)
Maybe that scene also shows that maybe there is a future where Changelings and ponies can live side by side as friends.
Personally I just like going with the thought that Cranky met and befriended a random changeling, and he invited him to his wedding.
I mean, there’s a giant water serpent as the best man, and people are gonna question the Changeling minding his own business in the back row? Obviously he was invited. He’s not attacking anyone, he’s just there… possibly quite literally for the ‘food’. Just being a possibly bro for his probable bro Cranky.
Besides, while I hate the term of ‘headcanon’, I do agree with you that I picture there not being much of a hivemind among changelings, and there could very well be shit loads of independent changelings all over the world. Possibly living among everyone in the towns and cities, in disguise. There’s love in the air at all times. Who’s gonna notice them taking some for a quick feed every so often?
This one got invited to a wedding, along with a giant metrosexual sea monster… No story needed!
Though while a story may not be needed, one certainly would be nice!

Don’t forget who wrote this episode. While it was a swan song of sorts to the fan community consider Larson’s relationship thereto, it is his playpen now, so if he puts it in an episode, they can build on it if they so choose.
So don’t count anything out, especially w.r.t. changelings. There’s two more finales and a premier episode still hanging fire, at least.
I know right!? I absolutely adore the concept of the Changelings, and I cannot consider a species that feeds off of love to be inherently bad, Chrysalis could be seen as bad due to her orders to her hive and her actions, but I don’t see all Changelings as being connected to her hive, and honestly the concept of the Changelings living as only hive-minded drones doesn’t even make too much sense, since as a species they’d gain far more as being independent, though that idea might be going against canon, but I’d still love to see more of this as a whole for the species.
