With all that said, Tree Hugger doesn’t have a defined race, being a pony, so it doesn’t matter - Not that it would have anyway, see my previous post about how dreads are okay for anyone.

Plus, black hippies absolutely existed. They weren’t the majority by any means, but they were definitely a part of hippie culture.

I think cultural appropriation is real, but it’s not simply using something that originated in another culture. It’s using another culture’s thing while not understanding/appreciating where it came from, and generally also involves someone hypocritically looking down on that culture.

So, tl;dr:

A.) White people with dreads - Not cultural appropriation.
B.) White people with dreads constantly mocking Rastafarians and/or black people - Probably counts as appropriation.
C.) Blackface - Not even cultural appropriation, just flat-out cultural mockery.

Wear whatever you want however you want - Just don’t do it in a way that belittles or puts down another culture. Liking things from other cultures is good. The idea that we shouldn’t use things from other cultures seems like something a racist old Stormfronter would say, so I absolutely don’t understand why some (thankfully not most) of my fellow libs embrace that view.

I love that, presumably because she’s always got her eyes half closed, they gave her huge eyebrows when most ponies don’t have them at all.

I don’t think SJW’s can perpetrate themselves as victims from hippie stereotypes. The most SJW’s can complain about, is “cultural appropriation” because of the dreads and they’ll further push the stereotype that all hippies are white oppressive shitlord stealing black culture. Which would hypocritically paint them as racist assholes.

Ehh, I mean, yeah, I don’t want kids using them. But it doesn’t matter that much since Tree Hugger’s never going to be shown to be explicitly on anything. She’ll just be kinda spacey, if anything.

But as for adults, I think that “Do anything you want as long as it’s not hurting anyone” is a pretty liberal ideal. I dunno; I don’t do drugs myself, but I don’t really care about other people using pot since it doesn’t really affect me.

Wait, why would SJWs be mad at hippies?

I’m hella liberal (Though I don’t call myself SJW; Who does, really?) and I already love Tree Hugger. She’s a parody of hippies, but not a mean-spirited one.
