Literally doesn’t matter. We’ve been over this. The nature of a Thing’s existence means that any ‘nice’ personality only applies to a particular mass of Thing cells that has developed it. Any spilled blood or shed bits of biomass lack the ability to have a nice personality, and will develop as a Thing concerned only with their own survival and propagation, as the Things in the movie.

Things aren’t allowed into open system environments if you want that system to contain any species other than Things.

The Thing’s actual personality is irrelevant to whether or not trying to befriend it is acceptable, because on the most fundamental level, The Thing is self-betraying.

Even if the large mass of ‘Thing’ that makes up what you first meet is a perfectly nice individual, if it accidentally gets cut or whatever, the drop of blood that spills lacks the intelligence to be so. All that Blood-Thing will care about is assimilation and survival. Given The Thing’s innate abilities, you can say goodbye to your planet’s biosphere if that blood drop lands somewhere where it isn’t immediately contained or destroyed. As seen in the hot-wire test, tiny parts like that will act automatically and betray the whole in favor of self-preservation in that state.

Thus, even if The Thing is nice, it cannot be allowed on your planet. Ever.
