Honda’s are known to rust easily, it’s literally the only thing that kills them. So yes rust proofing the car is a good idea.
Undercoating will save your car from rust. Getting a good layer of that stuff on your car will keep the rust from getting through. I live in PA so I know all about pot holes and rusted cars.

We salt the roads up here a lot during the long, snowy winters. It turns into brine when it splashes and melts, especially during the slush season (a.k.a. pothole season: seriously, please, any Michiganders on this site, please vote yes on Prop 1 this May. We need the roads fixed.) It’s proverbial for making edges, especially wheel wells, rust like mad up here. They tell you in advance you should basically forget about resale value.
