Right, I hazard how file transfers work on the Wii U work very similarly to the other two. Each competitor using DISC products probably means each competitor uses similar hardware. :L
I really doubt that’ll work. DLC games have speacil codes that prevent them playable when copied, especially if you copy the file directly into your game system.
Shantae still have her hair whip ability. Even though it was stated that she was trained by Bloo to fight effectively like a human, she never used any of those fighting skills. Its mostly pirate gear as the main core of attacks (you can still use items just like in previous installments), travel, and sovling puzzles.
Its still pretty awesome and they made it work well.
Yeah, it’s odd Konami’s “Goonies 1” for NES wasn’t released in America, (yet, it’s a licensed game based on an American ‘80s movie) but Goonies 2 is pretty good, and an early “Metroidvania”-style game.
Capcom’s “Little Nemo: The Dream Master” oddly came out before the TMS movie it was based on “Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland” was even released in America. (And there was also an arcade “Nemo” game only in Japan.) I must add, I like that game, and movie.
@thps48
I think there is an official internet plug-in device from Nintendo you can buy for your WiiU though, if you don’t have a Wi-Fi router. I’m not sure though.
Ah. So during the entirety of Pirate’s Curse, she’s completely human? I wonder how that affects the gameplay…
No, there us no retcon at all. In, The Pirates Curse, once you’ve collect all of the Tinkerbats and face the final boss Shantae will fight the Pirate King. After midway, the lamp that was use to collect the dark magic essence from all the Tinkerbats will merge with Shantae, Risky Boots reveals that its Shantae’s magic that was scatter after defeating Nega-Shantae.

Funny thing is, the arcade video game adaptation of the actual Goonies film wasn’t released in North America despite the fact that it was, y’know, based off an American film, but that arcade game is why we even HAVE a “Goonies II” video game.
You are now my new best friend.
@Beau Skunky
Yep, because of that kick starter Half Genie Hero will feature full voice acting, status altering costumes, multiple characters to play (I think) and a bunch of other content for bonuses if the money was raised high enough. This will be the best and biggest Shantae game ever to be created. Its going to be a real shame for me, since I still don’t have internet to download the game.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that one, they were getting donations for.
Yeah, alot of licensed games are mediocre nowadays. Though there are some pretty good licensed games out there, especially from the NES days. Duck Tales, Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers, Goonie 2, TMNT2: The Arcade Game, and such being some examples.
Oh no, I’m talking about the New Shantae (Half Genie Hero) that has been worked on for a long time now and WayForward did a kick starter. Its going to be downloadable only for all home consoles. The one your referring to is The Pirates Curse for the 3DS eShop (and maybe WiiU also, I’m not 100% certain).
Yeah, your right about that. I never did consider the controls and gameplay. When I was growing up I usually see that whenever a game is base off a movie, and just for that reason, 50% of the time its not going to be all that great. I avoid playing license games unless a good critic gives it a approving rating.
Yeah, the new Shantae game is out now.
@SuperDEF
So, hang on. Do Pirate’s Curse and Half-Genie Hero retcon the ending of Risky’s Revenge? I never finished that one, but I heard about the ending, where Shantae loses her genie half…
The digital version is a li’l cheaper, (around $15, but occasionally goes on sale for cheaper on the Eshop) but I hear the disc version does come with a neat collectable pin. The original NES “Duck Tales” is considered a “classic.”
Though, I hear the game’s only weak point is, there’s no option to play the original 8-bit NES version in it.
I don’t know, more players complain about the usual “mediocre/badly-made” gameplay as a major criticism of licensed games, and not so much the “story” of them. Though, Wayforward and some companies in the past have made some good ones. (As “Duck Tales” shows.)
Isn’t the new Shantae game out now? (For 3DS, at least, last I checked.)
Yeah, it’s challenging, but a good game.
I’m going to have to consider getting this Duck Tales: Remastered game. A lot of people kept saying it’s great. The last I check with GameStop its on a good price ($20, maybe it was a used copy).
If WayForward ever gets the opportunity to make a MLP game (once the new Shantae: Half Genie Hero gets done), I recommend them to come up with a new storyline instead of recreating some of their major episodes into a game. That’s how the usual license movies and TV medias always ended up with bad criticism. Didn’t WayForward did the Adventure Time games? That is a perfect example. I never played any of the Adventure Time, but I heard they were good.
On another note about Shantae, I to played the GBC version from the eShop. I went through a lot of trails & errors because of the diffculty (instinct death spikes and bottomless pits gets me every time). I have to grind for extra lives on a number of occasions.
Not a huge fan of the AVGN, but that’s coolies.
I actually have both “Mighty Switch Force” games for my 3DS, and the “Shantae” GBC game. (Would love to get the new ones, but they cost alot for me right now.) Wayforward makes some cool games.
It’d also be cool if Disney & Capcom let them remake more old Disney games. Their “Duck Tales: Remastered” remake looked impressive, and seems to be a hit. (Amazingly, they even got some of the original voice actors to reprise their roles. Including the now 90-year-old Alan Young to be Scrooge Mcduck.)
Remember the Angry Video Game Nerd? Yeah, James managed to customized his own toaster with hardware components from the NES. I don’t think it looks like the picture below, but close enough.
Let’s not forget Mighty Switch Force 1 and 2, and also WayForward’s number one game, the Shantae series. I love that game, the characters are not only adorable but also humorous.
One of my favorite highlights in The Pirates Curse.
Honestly, with WayForwrad’s creditability there should be no doubt that they’ll make a good MLP game. Hasbro should have nothing to worry about.
Somebody who worked at WayForward stated they were fans of Lauren Faust’s works, and stated they would love to get to make a MLP:FiM game. That’s why some fans (like me) want that to happen. (As Wayforward has made some good licensed games before. Like their “Batman Brave & the Bold” old-school arcade-style brawler, and the Zelda 2-like “Adventure Time” 3DS game.)
@Jarkes
I’ve seen some impressive custom/fan-made portable system versions of the SNES, N64, Sega Dreamcast, and other systems before.
@SuperDEF
You win. (Is that a real fan-made console? Or Really works?)

I wish there was a place where I could see particularly crazy or awesome customized consoles…
I recently did a double check on the new 3ds. Apparently, the whole “self-recharging” pack doesn’t exist…sadly.
Oh well. BTW, I have been reading peoples comments about WayForward having intentions to make a MLP:FiM game. When did all that started?
I never heard that, but might have to look it up. That sounds to good to be true, and kinda impossible.
I do hear the screens are clearer.
Yeah, but I was under the impression that its now capable of recharging itself without the use of an outlite.
I could be wrong, but that sounds awesome if the new 3ds can do that.
