They’re both very ambitious, driven by their work and want to make it to the big shots, so I could see them helping and encouraging each other along. Both very prideful in their own way, and so I could see them being able to call out each other on their arrogance and egotism, such as at the start of ‘Twilight’s Kingdom part 1,’ which also shows them teasing each other, but in a friendly-banter sort of way, whereas AJ and Rarity tend to do it more angrily and get annoyed at each other more easily. I could also see Rarity gaining some kind of adoration to Dash after she saved her (more than once), in a sort of ‘Prince Charming-Damsel in Distress’ way. Again, just my opinion and you’re very much welcome to your own interpretation and ships

…How do you see Rarity having more common ground with Rainbow Dash than with Applejack?

I always thought that Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy were ‘too different’ and that Twilight was the nice middle ground that worked out best. Dunno, that’s just my opinion. I guess the whole thing about ships is that everyone can see different dynamics within character interaction. I always thought that Rarity would do better with Rainbow Dash, AJ with Flutters and Twilight with Pinkie, because they all seem to have more in common, and can help each other the most. But each to their own, I suppose :P

I think under the surface, Applejack and Rarity are more alike than you think.
 
And if you consider Rarijack and Flutterdash “too different” to work out, how is it even possible for you to not think the same of Twinkie? As far as contrasting personalities go, this is is the freakin’ GRAIL. Twilight’s kind of introverted and gets kind of frustrated sometimes, and she needs some quiet time to relax at least once in a while. Pinkie, by contrast, doesn’t do the whole sit down and shut up thing so well. If she can go an hour without bouncing around like a spaz, bursting into song, getting into places she shouldn’t even be physically able to go, or otherwise making a spectacle of herself, it’s a minor miracle. Twilight would cramp Pinkie’s style, Pinkie would test Twilight’s patience. Twilight can’t keep up with Pinkie, and Pinkie would have a hard time slowing her life down for Twilight. Eventually it’d all collapse and all that’s left is arguing over who gets custody of Spike.

I have the same, well, not problems, but something like that with the AppleDash ship. It’s not that they’re too different, it’s that they’re too alike.
 
Normally, that’d be good, but they’re both seriously competitive and stubborn in the same way, and they would constantly try to tear each other down, one-up each other all the time, and when one of them inevitably loses, she’d run off in a huff and just completely ignore the other to heal her damaged pride. They’d burn each other out in a few months.

Yeah, they might care for each other, but I could not see them in a lasting relationship, especially a romantic one. I get that everyone likes the whole ‘opposites attract’ thing, but I think they are the exact opposite so much to a point that they’re too different to function as a healthy and happy relationship. They’d just get too sick of each other, no matter how much they may ‘love’ each other as friends. As for Dash and Fluttershy, Dash is way too pushy for her, and is always trying to get her to do things she doesn’t want to, usually through force, and doesn’t take her fears into much account, as opposed to, say, Applejack, who has been shown to be a lot more understanding and encouraging of her, like in Dragonshy. Not to mention that both these pairing dynamics have gotten so damn BORING and over-used in the actual show. There are countless rarijack and flutterdash episodes, and its starting to get a little old, especially since it’s always the same thing over and over again. I wish there was more variety within the episodes themselves.

Rarity and AJ argue but they’re super close despite it, they hang out together (choosing each other’s company) a lot. And despite arguing they show care for each other a lot, like AJ catching Rarity when she fainted over a ugly dress and holding her in a blanket to comfort her. Instead of just making fun of her or something, or helping their other friends.
 
RD is more patient with Fluttershy than she is with anyone else and Fluttershy is more comfortable opening up around Dash than she is any of the other mane 6. Both pairs are arguably closer with each other than they are with any of the others.
 
Unlike Dislestia, not saying I dislike it (I think it’s cute) but there’s basically zero in actual canon supporting it, other than him giving her flowers and McCarthy pretty much discredited that away unfortunately.

Sorry, I just can’t stand Rarijack. I just can not, in any conceivable way, imagine how it would work out, they’re too different and they fight waaaay too much to be that close. Same with Flutterdash, I can’t see Dash, being so impatient, being the right match for Fluttershy, since she’s so sensitive. She needs someone more nurturing, like AJ or Twilight.

Rarijack I’m on board with (because putting those two in the same room is always entertaining) and Flutterdash I got nothing against…
 
But I’ve yet to be convinced that Twinkie could end any way but disastrously. At some point, they would try living together, and that is when Pinkie would drive Twilight insane.
