Yeah, except the downsides come back doubled.  
You then get the city with the worst gang crime.

They must have closed a shitload of stuff from when I lived there in the late 90s then, because there was a fuckload of excellent parks, theaters, museums and the zoo, all of which had cheap or entirely free admission.
 
I also have a bias, since I was living on the seminary campus, so while hanging out with friends from school I could see some of the poverty, it hardly felt like slums, and personally was living on what was basically a giant college campus made up of families. Which was extra awesome because that means I was surrounded by kids my age in the midst of the pokemon boom.
 
I miss being able to get everywhere I wanted to go on a bike. And having places actually accommodate people with bikes.
 
And yeah, I’m sure there’s police brutality issues, but that’s kind of a national thing not specific to st louis. And I’ll still take police brutality over being robbed and murdered because white privilege.

like there being nowhere to really go to enjoy yourself, all of downtown being a poor neighborhood and police shooting unarmed black people, but at least the expenses and traffic aren’t terrible
