Ok, won’t complain there, but if it really is pre-celestia wouldn’t clover the clever be better for that story, since Trixie wasn’t born yet?
Or since Trixie does travel she could go to another country whose rules are rather sexist.

Before the founding of Equestria and the rise of the Royal Sisters, back in the days of the Kingdom of Unicornia. Obviously the princesses as well as Starswirl motivated the Equestrian magiocrats to put aside their prejudice and accept female scholars.

Yeah, I know there’s no motivation for misogyny beyond giving a reason for a mare having to dress up as a stallion. I’m entitled to some fun, aren’t I?

Why would it be male centered if the princess, most powerful magic user in Equestria, is female? There’s also twilight.

Comic continuity notwithstanding, my headcanon is still that Starswirl is a direct ancestor of Trixie, and was a mare who had to wear a false beard in order to be accepted by the at the time male-centered magiocracy.

Once she was properly accepted as the genius she was and they couldn’t exclude her anymore, she wore her disguise as unconvincingly as possible just to rub it in their faces.
