That’s kind of how it happened in the book Transformers: Exodus(it’s part of the Aligned continuity), a bunch of his followers started to cheer and quickly the “us” got left off and he was like “I like the sound of this better”.

Oh, so it wasn’t the same reason as IDW? ‘Megatron’ rolled off the tongue easier than ‘Megatronus’?

“Me! Ga! Tron!” “Me! Ga! Tron!”

vs

“Me! Ga! Tron!” “…us.”

Yep, then took the name Megatronus after one of the Thirteen Primes(guess who!) when he took over Kaon, then when Orion Pax was given the title of Prime he droped the “us” at the end.

I don’t think they even got numbers. If I recall correctly from tfwiki, D-16 (the transformer who would become Megatron) took the designation from the mine shaft where he worked.

Ah. My bad. I thought you meant the IDW one. Really need to start slowing down and properly processing information before reacting to it.

Ya, I know about that in the Aligned continuity, I got the novels set in it, that’s why I said “stated out trying to help others” in my first comment.

I’d also like to add that in the Aligned/ Prime continuity, there was a caste system in place (like in the IDW comics’ backstory) where your role in life was fixed at birth and you could never change it.

Worse, it wasn’t consistent. One tank might become a soldier, while another a miner. Got to the point new TFs didn’t even get names, just numbers. Megs dared to take a name and stand up against the system, and Optiums sided because, well, “Freedom is the right of all sentient beings.”

Then it all went wrong.

No, back under the autobot senate. Where those of lower classes were essentially slaves and the autobot police got their jollies beating the lower castes within an inch of their lives without repercussions.

Last I know of what happened in the IDW comics was that Cybertron was now mostly non-aligned bots that elected Starscream leader.
Doesn’t sound like the Autobots are in charge…

Twi, he may have stated out trying to help others but then it all became about power for himself, he wan’t doing it for his friends.
