Looks like the “mane six plus one” tag refers specifically to Sunset Shimmer. I realize this now. Just like the “mane seven” tag refers to the M6 with Spike.
…why was Sunset Shimmer tagged in this pic, when the seven ponies here are the Mane 6 plus Most Aderpable Pone Ever? =Sunset Shimmer tag removed=

I see what you mean. Let me just let them know that I based this art off of an actual photograph of pony plushies arranged in a box and maybe they’ll understand more.
Age range doesn’t mean anything. In a happy fairytale universe like Equestria, psychological barriers are probably too weak for age range to mean anything. Fact is, the mane six are his friends, the CMC aren’t.

You’re exaggerating.
I’d suggest just ignoring them. They’ll just get angry because for them, not drawing spike in a mane 6 pic = spike hater. Believe me, I’ve seen quite a bit in pics under the same category.
Maybe he’s having a good day with the CMC back home, since their not there in the box with them either. Besides, there closer to his age. More fitting to hang out with.
Because all six of his friends got shipped off to have fun and left him behind. Again!
Either that, or he switched bodies with Derpy. Again.
