So, the artist here. Smarter minds than myself were convinced to watch “Bridle Gossip” a few years back and surmised that zombies actually exist (or existed) in Equestria. Watch the episode and pay close attention to the wording of Spike and Twilight’s conversation at the beginning of the episode.
 
Not saying I totally accept the headcanon, but now every time I watch “Bridle Gossip” I half expect Twilight to say “It’s not zombies, Spike. EVERYONE KNOWS THOSE WERE SEALED AWAY IN NECROPONYLIS.”
 
More importantly: rule of cool. Rule of cool always wins.

Something that’s truly without a mind can’t recognize prey or hunt. Every medium that uses zombies pretty much just makes up whatever rules for them they want. None of it makes any scientific sense, so what’s stopping someone from making unicorn zombies that can still use their magic? Or pegasus zombies that can still fly? Or earth pony zombies that continue running their farms and creating bushels of infected fruit that corrupt the food supply and inject strains of magical zombie plague into-

What does Blueblood do in this scenario? He’s the only one without a visible weapon AND has notably messy front hooves so I’m guessing he punches them out with extreme prejudice. Hardcore.

Yeah, zombies don’t really pose much of a threat in a world of magic. A nuisance, but not a threat.

Considering the fact that Shining can make large magic shields than can chose what goes through and what doesn’t, would zombies really be much of a threat?

Big Mac is Nikolai Belinski.  
Shining is Takeo Masaki.  
Braeburn is Tank Dempsey.  
That sounds like a headcanon if ever I had one.
