What dose the 30 moons have to do with anything? My headcanon is that the ditruction of the twilights library in the season 4 finale created for a short time a new independed dimentional rift. and some of the rabble from the explotion got into the EQG world.
Flim and Flam would have the time to come across the helmet and put it in their inventory.

I really hope that EQG!Twilight shows up in Rainbow Rocks. Otherwise I’m boggled how they’re gonna justify getting Pony!Twilight back.
Head-canon: The “real” EQG Twilight Sparkle is a science student across town who has a laboratory in her basement. This is some of her discarded equipment.
When Tirek blew up twilight library all the magic involved caused a dimensional tear sucking pices of rubble and items to other universes.
The head piece is the same (You have to flip it horizontally). The top piece on the machine from the library is the piece that is on the right when Flam’s holding it.
(It’s called Flash prop reuse, but this was a one-shot object so yes, calling it as a purposely callback what Twilight used)
