I know and that is really all that’s important. But you have people complaining because Twilight is above the others despite them having wildly different aspirations. If those people really want to get into semantics of group inequality, they should realize that in terms of accomplishments, they were never going to be fully equal. That part hasn’t really changed.

Twilight has always been the leader and the one they turn to. Right from the beginning she was the one that brought them together and the one that gave most of the friendship reports. Also she was always destined to rise the highest of the group. Even Faust had her set to be Celestia’s successor which ranks far above being a Wonderbolt or a famous designer. The dynamic isn’t actually any different than it was before.
I’m actually a bit surprised that more people don’t complain about the AJ’s, Pinkie’s and Fluttershy’s roles. I mean, Twilight was always set to become an important pony (I would have guessed being a member of the royal court before the alicorn thing happened), Dash is going to be a famous sports star, and Rarity will be a famous designer. Pinkie, if things go her way, could become a famous party planner who sets up parties around Equestria. AJ though will always just be a farmer and a pony that helps out around town. Fluttershy is just a recluse who takes care of animals. Their destinies pale in comparison to the others.
This is pretty much the opposite of primus inter pares. Primus inter pares is when you have a group who are officially equals,
and one of them is unofficially seen as important and knowledgeable by his peers. Here, one member is officially the leader, but the leader pretends not to be, and any pretense of equality is a farce.

She said she wanted Twilight to be her successor. Also, need I remind you, it doesn’t matter what Lauren Faust wanted. She left the show half way through series 2. She started it off and the majority of the lore has been created by the writing and animating team at DHX studios.
Frankly, I’m amazed they didn’t make the whole Mane 6 princesses. Not because they “deserve it”, but simply so they could sell a bunch more toys from making Alicorn Mane 6.
