The main problem is that they were only able to use strait-spur gears for the transmission/final drives, which are much easier to break than herringbone shaped gears.
Too bad most Panthers broke down after only 150km, on average. And this is only the beginning of the Panther’s problems.

U WOT M80?
Game doesn’t account for stripping the transmission, or parts breaking for any reason besides being shot. Or sinking in the mud, :P
Every tank is “good” in pubs, but
>Maus
>Good in Clan Wars
pick one
Not in World of Tanks it ain’t. The Maus is actually good when you use it correctly, while the Panther actually sucks in the game. :\
The Panther - Ausführung G would probably be more efficient, as it was the first tank to have a build in IR searchlight. Making it an effective and perfectly camouflaged vehicle day and night. Powered by a Maybach HL 210 P30 engine, V-12 engine it could accelerate quite fast. And having a 7,5cm cannon and two Mg34 for both gunner and the loader made it a most lethal tank.</knowledge>
